20/7/2017 09:14 | Final line in the presentation.Let's pull all four of these themes together. In the space of ten minutes we have mapped out a scenario in which Tristel's potential extends to more than half of the world's population. It might sound wildly optimistic, but believe us, it's not. | 2niffy
20/7/2017 09:10 | Thank you James and Melton; both very useful for those of us that were not able to attend. The share price has reacted positively to the update and, I guess, the event. I find myself considering some further top-slicing (I topped up -a lot - below 200p). I've seen this share bubble up nicely off the back of good news only to come off the boil after a month or so which would then be an opportunity to buy back.... A profit is, after all, only a profit when it has been banked! | zimbtrader
19/7/2017 19:55 | The Tristel Shareholder Open Day today was once again a very informative event. I wish that more companies were as open as to their business and future plans. Although it is by no means the whole picture, I want to focus in this post on the EPA applications made back at the end of June and the points made in the RNS that the company issued on 3 July 2017, which to my mind suggested that that EPA approvals were much more significant than had previously been understood by the market. The key point to my mind was that EPA approval would allow Duo to be used (subject to individual State clearance) for INTERMEDIATE disinfection of instruments, compared to high level disinfection. This was clarified further today. The presentation slides online have a very useful slide at page 21 which demonstrates the overall parts of an invasive probe and ancillary equipment that are covered by EPA approval and those that need FDA approval. The probe needs FDA approval, but everything else is covered by EPA approval. A key takeaway for me today was that HPV pretty much equally contaminates the chord connecting the probe to the main unit (and quite possibly the main unit itself) and that there is no cleansing mechanism at present that completely deals with HPV presence beyond the probe - other than ClO2. Trophon, for example, only deals with the probe. To my mind, that is a huge opportunity for TSTL. The split between approval for the probe and the rest of the kit only applies to the US and so TSTL has no data from other jurisdictions as to how much of its product it sells for the invasive probe and how much relates to the rest of the apparatus - it simply sells across the board. That said, EPA approval (and follow on required State approval)seems very likely to be a much bigger market than previously understood. Adding on FDA approval to deliver the only current holistic protection against HPV in this area seems to me to be a complete game changer. As I said, there are a number of very interesting developments and the US is by no means the only game in town (what is happening elsewhere tends to get undervalued), but this US issue alone seems to me to be really significant. | james188

05/7/2017 15:28 | So does anyone know which instruments have non-porous surfaces, and so can be cleaned by an EDA-approved disinfectant?( I have been informed that intermediate status allows for the disinfection of probes that remain outside the body, such as ultrasound probes used to scan pregnancies. ) | tmfmayn
05/7/2017 14:29 | but the RNS did say ... The EPA clearance will enable Duo to claim intermediate disinfection of all non-porous surfaces, including those of medical instruments. Article in Cleanroom Technology Tristel makes move on US infection prevention market 4-Jul-2017 | piedro
05/7/2017 01:15 | james188, hopefully they really did learn that lesson back in 2011 | piedro
04/7/2017 15:27 | I was (pleasantly)surprise I had understood that the EPA had jurisdiction for surfaces disinfection - which would include things like instrument trays, but not the instruments themselves - and that the FDA governed all instrument disinfection, hence the two applications for Duo that Tristel is working on, which are still some way off being made. So, given that the majority of Tristel's turnover both in the UK and elsewhere comes from selling outpatient instrument disinfection products, what I am unclear about is whether EPA and State approvals for Duo are likely to generate much larger sales of Duo ahead of FDA approval than the company and the market had previously expected. | james188

04/7/2017 13:33 | Yes seems an odd "investment". Can't immediately see the benefit to Tristel who is a disinfectant company...maybe they will clarify, but until then it seems the money in their pockets proved too convenient to splurge with. Regards,Source. | source |
