08/9/2016 11:45 | Good to hear from you, A. I have no been conditioned to expecting one step forward, one step back. Hopefully, waving not drowning. apad | apad
08/9/2016 11:39 | Komatsu existing mining and construction equipment usage is increasing again. (Good for spares sales - lots of equipment out there will have been rusting.) This adds weight to my expectation that new sales look set to start rising in later H2 on current trends. (Caterpillar not doing quite as well as Komatsu but things still look to be slowly turning.) TCN have a trading updated for an unspecified date in October - probably early. Hopefully, we'll start to hear some more optimistic noises. | aleman
23/8/2016 12:25 | Know what you mean - I remember thinking: "apad, your an engineer why are you buying a company that bends pipes" I should've listened to myself. apad | apad
23/8/2016 11:44 | I have a small legacy holding -no point in chucking them out at this level. Will let it run and review after next set of results. I used to be a big fan of this but it has been going nowhere for a long while now. | meijiman
23/8/2016 11:00 | I don't think valuation metrics are useful for runaway growth or survival stocks, meij. They are for equilibrium companies. apad | apad

23/8/2016 10:11 | It is cheap on most valuation grounds -I think they sell to Caterpillar in the UK as well. Certainly Cummins. | meijiman
23/8/2016 09:44 | The China reconstruction is the main link with Caterpillar I believe. I would look for stable China news before buying this tiddler. US seems to have been good. apad | apad
23/8/2016 09:32 | Thanks Aleman -do you think the shares are a buy then? There seems to be no news outside the results. | meijiman
23/8/2016 08:41 | Komatsu and Caterpillar shares continue to make progress this year as construction equipment markets improve. Mining equipment is showing signs of levelling out in H2.. free stock charts from uk.advfn.com | aleman
11/8/2016 08:15 | Komatsu's mining equipment business looks to be starting to turn up. Caterpillar sales are still falling but Europe and Asia look to be showing signs of levelling out so overall sales might bottom towards the end of H2. Despite collapsed prices, stuff still needs digging out of the ground and they can only delay orders for so long. Eventually, existing clapped out equipment needs replacing if they are to keep digging. | aleman
03/7/2016 13:43 | That's true. Made the TCN management look foolish by their adroitness. And look at the big payout to AVG shareholders. This dog pays out nothing. | meijiman
03/7/2016 10:34 | One could view it as a roulette wheel stock, but maybe an oil driller would be more exciting (I've bet on SOU). This is like watching paint dry. If I was interested I would wait a little longer, for some good news. As it is, I'm locked into a dog. apad ps AVG pulled a blinder getting the RR contract and then getting out by finding a buyer! Don't like the company though. | apad
03/7/2016 10:26 | To mt mind the comparison with Avingtrans makes TCN look like a laggard. One seems to be well managed the other muddles along. Shareholder returns at TCN have been dismal. Agree though it could be a good punt at current levels. | meijiman
03/7/2016 10:10 | This recent article suggested it was only weak Chinese demand holding everything back (and my links above show that now seems to be picking up). | aleman
03/7/2016 09:46 | I think you are correct in concentrating on the industrial context in which TCN operates, Aleman. I suppose that Caterpillar is the bellweather, as we have previously discussed. It is now July and their chinese restructuring should be nearing completion. My view is that it is still a game of survival until the rising tide lifts all boats and that I am surprised that the US deal seems to have provided the survival mechanism. It's gonna be a long wait. apad | apad
03/7/2016 09:42 | Hmmm; it's a risky punt but it's one I've taken FWIW - could ten-bag, could do nothing, could gradually fade away into administration, but a good risk-reward ratio overall IMO. | value hound
03/7/2016 09:36 | Fundamentals still show substantial overvaluation at current levels No profits no divs | charo
03/7/2016 09:33 | Early days. but Chinese industrial production looks to be beginning to pick up slowly. And the last 3 months of orders have been a bit stronger. | aleman
03/7/2016 09:22 | CHinese electricity production looks to have started rising again after a flat 2015. | aleman
03/7/2016 09:15 | Chinese steel production had a falling trend in 2014 and 2015 but it has rebounded to record levels in March, April and May. | aleman
03/7/2016 09:07 | Not a big part of TCN's markets but, nonetheless, another small sign that industrial equipment markets are picking up a bit. | aleman
08/6/2016 15:07 | Charos previous comment seems way off the mark | guerdale
08/6/2016 11:01 | ps They do say this should be complete in July. | apad |
