06/8/2018 16:44 | Guys, I don't have any interest in TPK, but thought I'd let you know that Wickes are not able to order spare parts from major suppliers (Electolux) - they instead ask customers to order parts directly and would reimburse with a cheque straight away. Sounds like credit issues. | mtsblogs

31/7/2018 09:21 | Oxman you may have already read this article released 29/07/18 it mentions the shares out on loan quite massive regarding short sellers, so I think you made the right decision on this one well done. Sharecast News) - Sunday newspaper share tips, including Travis Perkins in the Sunday Times, Weir Group in the Sunday Telegraph and Tax Systems in the Mail on Sunday Travis Perkins shares are best avoided, said the Sunday Times' Inside the City column, along with the short-sellers who have more than one in ten of the shares out on loan. Shares in the company are down almost 40% from their summer 2015 zenith, "and it may be some time before there is any meaningful lift". The builders merchant, which owns the Wickes and Toolstation chains, is very prone to blaming the weather for any dip in performance, like many in its industry. UK weather is all-important for this FTSE 250 group, as it has no international operations to counterbalance any sniffles in the UK. The health of the housing market is key for Travis Perkins, which is another explanation why the first half of the year has not been easy. February's full year figures sent some investors fleeing after a fall in the number of house moves that required repair, maintenance and improvement from builders. "As a result of all this, the company has had to carry out cost-cutting measures, including axing a third of its head-office jobs in May," the column noted. Interim numbers on Tuesday will give an update that followed indications of a possible slowdown from others in similar markets, such as Howdens Joinery's results, though planned stores closures at Homebase could be a boon. For the second quarter of the year, like-for-like sales are forecast to increase 3.8%, an improvement on 3% in the first quarter. | ken tennis

27/3/2018 11:11 | I keep trying to do business with TP Tain, but they are not competitive Today they were £179 over on a £779 order for timber I placed with Jewsons Invergordon I don't care who supplies my materials as long as am not getting stiffed everytime | jimarilo
01/3/2018 08:12 | I noticed the plumbing section is not doing well for TP. I do wonder if the district heating concept mostly associated with new builds is slowly biting into the alternative heating market. District heating is marketed as if it will reduce co2 and cost no more than alternatives. However there are a few issues within the sector and noticeably the sector created a self regulator to help steady the ship. I took Eon to court last year as they claimed their heat networks would not cost more than alternatives. They offer a "price promise guarantee" and "fair price policy". My supporting material showed Eon's comparator was based on an oversized combi boiler more suited towards a 4-5bed house. The equipment managed by the energy giant is a heat-only unit in 2bed flat. On a like for like basis the heat supplier should have used a regular gas boiler. By using an inaccurate alternative also meant quoting a shorter boiler lifespan leading to annual gas boiler cost twice that of a regular gas boiler. Also the comparator between the energy heat verse gas was also unfair. Eon suggested the alternative gas boiler could have been only 80% efficient therefore the heat used should by multiplied to seek a gas usage. Research showed not only building regulations insist new installations must be 86% but eon advertise their gas boilers have guarantee efficiency levels of 94%. The district heating customer is getting a raw deal. Also stated in my witness report the equipment provided has limited insulation, a 20kW heat plate for a combined space heat demand of 4kW and a control valve that encounters a 2min opening delay. Combining 3 issues the customer encounters an avoidable heat consumption on was supposedly an environmental friendly heating system!During the first hearing EONs barrister suggested I had a problem with the Heat Trust (a customer protection scheme that acts like a regulator). The judge asked me why I disproved and I simply explained the Heat Trust features several directors and one is in fact the gentleman who responded to my original complaint at Eon as Head of community Heat (Jemery Bungey). The Eon barrister then introduced Mr Bungey as the gentleman sitting in the row behind her! It appeared the customer protection scheme did not inform the customer their director would in fact be sitting on the energy giants bench!!! Not only did I have no legal representation but I was now facing the regulator as well as Eon and their legal team. I also highlighted the heat boxes consume more energy but such is not factored in their fair price policy nor in the customer protection online comparator!! District Judge Bard requested new witness statements and a second hearing. The session ended with the warning "we could be on the tip of an iceberg". 4 months later the case was scheduled for a full day at the Royal Courts of Justice County Court. Eon and their legal representation did not make an appearance. The judge delayed the hearing but eventually the case went ahead. Judgement went against the defendant who was ordered to by approximately £900 plus £180 court fees. Works out over 3years we paid £300 more per year than if using gas heating. According to Companies House Mr Bungey resigned from the Heat Trust six days after court judgement. As far as I'm aware the Heat Trust did not release a public statement relating to his departure. There are thousands of customers out there who are under the impression their district heating costs no more than alternatives. Some may complain and told to visit the Heat Trust website for a fair comparison but there seems to be injustice by the fact some customers are provided with equipment fairly represented by the customer protection scheme! | 18bells
