20/6/2025 09:56:45 | Yes spec, you are right that the performance is less bad on a total return basis. dividends received would halve the capital loss.
The problem is that the dividend has fallen. My first dividend in May 2023 was indeed 'monster'. The big question is how the dividend will hold up in the future.
As I said, those who have bought better than I have, and have purchase averages well below my 566 will naturally be happier. It is the purchase price which provides the base on which to calculate income return. | 1knocker
20/6/2025 08:42:25 | My understanding is 20% witholding tax is payable. There is a scheme whereby it can be reduced to 10% but, no broker has or will do the necessary to reduce the tax. If you go back to the 2022 posts you will see lots of discussions on the subject and nothing has changed. | joey52
20/6/2025 06:52:05 | Surely had some monster dividends, or does the average include them?
TGA's effectively a wasting asset. | spectoacc
17/6/2025 15:41:39 | They paid ca 85p/ share for Australian asset, so basically the SA assets are valued at zero. Stupidly cheap | hunter154
17/6/2025 15:40:28 | Agreed. I think the cash on balance sheet was 271p as at Dec 2024 | hunter154
17/6/2025 14:42:14 | Just bought back in again having last traded TGA some time ago and at much higher levels than we are at today. The share price is ridiculously cheap for this cash rich company. | xamf
15/5/2025 09:00:57 | The last time I held these through ex-div, I recall they taxed at 20%, my account is with II. | davius
15/5/2025 07:01:31 | Apologies @meanreverter, I've no idea - not sure how many I held at XD date, nor what the ratio was. | spectoacc
14/5/2025 20:17:49 | SpectoAcc: What rate of dividend withholding tax did A J Bell apply to your Thungela dividend? | meanreverter
14/5/2025 14:24:16 | IG are clowns, that's my experience. Need to check all your divis with them.
My divi in too, fwiw (AJB). | spectoacc
14/5/2025 14:23:37 | IG deducted 20% withholding tax from the dividend. It could have been 10% if they had done the appropriate paperwork. What is the experience of other holders on this BB? | meanreverter
14/5/2025 13:23:36 | My dividend was paid 2 days ago on May 12th | sturmey

14/1/2025 17:41:48 | Whoops….make that 559p | hunter154
14/1/2025 17:22:27 | If I added at 459p yesterday I’d be over the moon! | willyworm2
14/1/2025 16:30:59 | Nat gas prices are going up (and are generally a lot higher in Asia than Europe or US);Coal is a competing fuel. When gas shot up in 2022, coal prices followed. I added to my holding yesterday at 459p and am pretty pleased. | hunter154
09/1/2025 10:17:20 | I have to admit I am somewhat confused by TGA's slow & steady rise over the past 3 months, especially when one considers the fact that the coal price has dropped from $150 down to $117 over the same period, some 22% ?? (Or are we expecting a very upbeat trading announcement come the end of Feb) | casket1
