Posted at 22/6/2025 11:44 by meanreverter Joey52: That is certainly the case with IG. Even though a lot of TGA shares are held for the benefit of IG's UK ISA clients, IG's custodian for TGA can't be bothered to split its nominee account — into one for beneficial owners eligible for relief under the UK's double-taxation treaties, and one for other, ineligible, owners. The same applies for Canadian shares. However, IG (or its custodian) does make the effort to minimize dividend withholding tax on US and Australian shares for eligible customers. |
Posted at 20/6/2025 09:56 by 1knocker Yes spec, you are right that the performance is less bad on a total return basis. dividends received would halve the capital loss. The problem is that the dividend has fallen. My first dividend in May 2023 was indeed 'monster'. The big question is how the dividend will hold up in the future. As I said, those who have bought better than I have, and have purchase averages well below my 566 will naturally be happier. It is the purchase price which provides the base on which to calculate income return. |
Posted at 17/6/2025 14:42 by xamf Just bought back in again having last traded TGA some time ago and at much higher levels than we are at today. The share price is ridiculously cheap for this cash rich company. |
Posted at 14/5/2025 20:17 by meanreverter SpectoAcc: What rate of dividend withholding tax did A J Bell apply to your Thungela dividend? |
Posted at 14/5/2025 14:24 by spectoacc IG are clowns, that's my experience. Need to check all your divis with them.My divi in too, fwiw (AJB). |
Posted at 14/5/2025 14:23 by meanreverter IG deducted 20% withholding tax from the dividend. It could have been 10% if they had done the appropriate paperwork. What is the experience of other holders on this BB? |
Posted at 14/5/2025 13:23 by sturmey My dividend was paid 2 days ago on May 12th |

Posted at 30/9/2024 13:34 by casket1 Just curious, has anybody received their TGA dividend yet. I'm with ii, but mine does not appear to have been credited, which I thought was 23rd Sept (pay date)Am I wrong with pay date or has anyone else experienced this issue ? |
Posted at 11/6/2024 12:39 by kenmitch I rarely trade a share but do with Thungela as the share price just reacts to the spot coal price. See this link for that:-So over the last 12 months:- Sept 2023 ….coal peaked at $162 and TGA peaked at £8. November 2023 ….coal down to $120 and TGA down to £5.80 Feb 2024 ….after a bounce coal fell to $115 and TGA also bottomed then to £4.15 April 2024 …coal bounced to $145 and TGA bounced to £6.30. TODAY. Coal $133 and share down to £5.10. Ideally the current coal price fall needs to continue to around $120 to $125 to give the next TGA buy trading opportunity. Now might be too early… but best way to decide that is to monitor the spot coal price. Also note the coal bubble peak of $444 in Sept 2022. Thungela share price also peaked then at £18. It’s also worth keeping an eye on the next ex dividend date as there’s also a strong case to buy and get that big dividend. |
