A 22% rise on 7000 shares traded and without any news to act as a catalyst ! It must have been tipped somewhere !

Whoops! down 9% today. I wonder if that's just catching up with the market, bad news in the offing, or just (big) random fluctuations.

bloodsports...you may find this discussion thread of interest to you as TFW is rarely discussed here.

There are lots of holders on TMF and quite a few attend Agms etc to get a feel for the company. TFW are indeed net cash and substantially so with about a third of the market cap in cash and a very well covered dividend.

The missus has abit of spare money around and I am constructing a portfoilio. i want safe, secure, divi payers with no or little debt.

Am i right in beliving this is debt free and has a well covered divi and years of proven earnings record. It seems to fit he bill. Is there anything I am missing-apart for market conditions!?

Cheers

Like I said :-)

It looks to me as if they now have over £20m in cash and short-term deposits, and no borrowings! There was an increase of £4.47m put on deposit, which at first I mistook for capex. What are they going to do with it? How much does 200 acres of forestry cost?!

Another really excellent performance all in all. Of course it is a late cycle business, but even so what is there to be negative about?

Hello David :-)

As you know I am a man of few words and I can't think of anything to say at the moment, just like with most of my other stocks... I anticipate a good set of results, a very cautious outlook statement, and very little market reaction. Better that than an opportunistic offer to buy out the company on the cheap, like some Companies From Tyneside...

Just call me Robinson Crusoe !

I am not so sure it has ever been a really popular PI stock although I do know four other serious investors who hold the stock as well as me. It has never had a crazy gang type following but I think John Lee in his popular newspaper column has mentioned the company about a year ago.

The number of posters coming here tells you that there are very few indeed that really know about or have researched the company in detail. I like well managed originally family backed style companies where they have moved with the times but always retain the conservative principles.

The assets here are rock solid and they have freeholds not hefty rents to pay. The company just builds and builds the cash reserves. The dividend should not be at threat even in a downturn.

Good luck if you move from lurking to holding but you are most welcome on the island...Where is your treasure stashed ?
