It's the small investor who is paying the price here. The pantomime characters like Mogg and chums will be doing ok. The economic consequences are real, dangerous and bad enough but the real price is national security as European arrest warrants disappear along cross border corporation. Can't remember any of that featuring on the side of the liars bus or may they didn't know???

Well well a new deal in Russia to add to that of China and cost cutting to boot. Might look back in a year and congratulate myself on a very shrewd buy.

Agreed. Signed yesterday and forwarded to other folk who also signed. To suggest the numbers are down to Russian Bots is like buying from a snake oil from a unicorn!

Been watching this... the Fos element is compelling, was waiting for a down day market wide... here we are meanwhile Sterling gaining....

I can see a takeout... then again its just my opinion, worthless opinion.

Well if I remember correctly, Harriet Green started to push for more online in store & online, etc. Many years ago!!
She left with a good handshake..
It just shows management then would not let her continue with her quest to remove all the Silo's

Having had a number of retail stores myself and felt the pain of unhelpful greedy landlords. I think these closures are the beginning of a programme to seriously reduce their retail footprint. They would also have factored in the redundancy and associated costs for these closures this year. Hopefully these lower operating costs will filter through to the bottom line. Savings on rent and business rates alone could run to circa 1.1m PA

That's a good observation Phil, chosen for closure as their leases were due for renewal. So is it woes in the high street or a policy driven initiative to not renew leases? If its woes in the high street, as Willy Wagg asserts, why are only 21 being closed barely 5% of the high street portfolio?

My biggest concern is that this was something highlighted on this board as far back as 6 years ago. Its like trying to turn a cart horse around.

Lets see but I don't like the action in the bond market.

GLA and DYOR.

The majority of stores being closed were not profitable, and were chosen for closure as their leases were due for renewal, a spokesman said.

As well as weather-related woes, Thomas Cook has faced competition from online travel agents and low-cost airlines.

It has also said political unrest in holiday destinations such as Turkey has been disruptive to its business.

I just wonder if TCG are being more upfront with their position in the market with regards holiday sales etc.
Doing the cost cutting, are the likes of TUI that much better!!

I have holidays with both companies, they are no different to what they offer, in fact I have had better outcomes with TCG.

I have never had a holiday with Jet2..so no opinion on them

Still another 500 stores to go!

TCG does not have the cash to execute this strategy. A rights issue will be needed.

Oh dear, current trading must be very bad then.

Need Brexit to be finalised one way or the other to remove this horrible uncertainty.

Some very poor data coming out from Germany this morning which is rattling the markets.

Major Brexit uncertainty now will be hurting Thomas Cook more than the average company.

28p is previous support. Will it hold that is the big question ?

Quite possible that we could get an RNS regarding Fosun increase in holding...who wouldn't sub 30p.
