Government Petition to Ban shorting of London AIM stocks.

The AIM stock market is where smaller companies list their shares rather than using the prohibitively expensive main London Stock Market. This is an important market for the growth of smaller UK companies.

In challenging times, shorters seek to borrow the company's shares from a holder for a consideration and to buy them at a later date. They immediately sell these shares which, due to the relative illiquid market, sends the price much lower and hence the shorters can buy them at that lower price - pocketing the difference. The only beneficiaries are the shorters and the market makers with the losers being the reputable company and it's bona fide investors.

The Times: A slump in bookings caused by fears of Brexit travel chaos has forced tour operators to offer “unprecedented” discounts on Easter holidays.

The warnings are there folks for a further profit warning in the near future.

Tiger, why do you sign off your posts with "Tiger" ?

Are you afraid that people might not notice you even despite your ADVFN ID appearing at the top of your post?

Obviously this idiosyncrasy is "your thing" and an attempt to differentiate yourself from other posters in the never ending quest for BB credibility, and I realise that to stop now would be an admission of the inane stupidity of doing it, but I am curious nonetheless.

Anyway, TCG up 5% today, and noone has worked out what Fosun average is.

Thanks.

Oh dear, I bet Berenberg are well pleased to see the markets shrug off their credible analysis on TCG today :-)

I have however sold out of TCG now and will wait a re-entry point a few pence cheaper if possible.

"Club Med owner Fosun took an initial 5% shareholding in Thomas Cook for £91.8 million two years ago."

(Article dated 2017)

Shouldn't be too hard to work out their average, just check the holding announcements since 2015 and get the calculator out.

THATS MARKET CAP OF 1.836 B

approx 4 times current price so about 130p

not their finest investment as the 92m is worth just 23m today
