I always felt and still do that You could compare Tesco to a cargo ship - you turn the engine off but it will take 5 plus miles before you can turn it around. Patience is key.

@Ali,

Indeed, and that's because certain segments are breeding like rabbits, aided by generous welfare to do so!

Still, it'll mean more mouths to feed - they have to go somewhere.

Reduce immigration - reduce demand?.....

it'll be a long time before demand for housing of any sort is reduced, even with reduced immigration, country can't build enough houses to supply growing demand from current population.

The market is not factoring in the benefit to Tesco of residential re-development on top of and in the car parks of its stores. Not only will Tesco make money from the developments themselves, but also ongoing ground rents, most likely; and of course, many more new customers right on tap. That must be worth a few shekels on the share price, surely?!

Assuring to see I am not alone in the porty admiration society.

Portside1 is on various other boards that I have an interest in and safe to say he has far more people who can't stand him than admirers.

Outlook We have made good progress over the last year. We are continuing to invest in our customer offer in order to improve our competitiveness in what remains a challenging, deflationary and uncertain market. This will be reflected in the pace of improvement in profitability in the current year, particularly in the first half. We are increasingly confident that the actions we are taking are leading to sustainable improvements for customers and will result in a continued improvement in profitability and the creation of long-term value for shareholders.

2014 statement the same as 2017

directors to get more free shares because they will be given out before results are announced knowing that the share price will go and would get fewer free shares its corrupt

Oh for gods sake give it a rest. Who actually cares, you are the bitterest person I have ever met. Maybe you should try and run a major PLC.

What porty is trying to say is that all too often nobody is held accountable for the debacles that occur at higher levels...and as a normal practise the Director gets paid off to walk away because the company can afford it....

that is not the issue its the fact that they were paid on false figs so money must be paid back . if I went to the bank and they made a mistake and paid me more than was n my account they would claim it back .

the directors were paid on false fig money must be given back by all who gained from false figs
