“You maybe surprised to find that not everybody in the EU is happy either. This is the “Canada-plus” option the EU at one point said it would never agree to:a free trade deal inside a wider association agreement,it will keep the UK closely aligned to the EU,but with no jurisdiction of European courts;and it allows the UK to set up an independent immigration policy.”

Article in today’s FT

The article continues ....

“The eventual free trade deal will not have the benefits of a customs union. But it will also not come with the same obligations. It was a choice for the UK to make. The future trade deal will still maintain industrial tariffs at zero, and reduce administrative hassle at the borders.I remember many predictions that the EU would never offer such a bespoke deal.

The EU even compromised on the Irish question when it agreed to an all UK backstop. From the EUs perspective, this is potentially problematic. It is a period which the UK would no longer be a member of the EU.It would not contribute to the EU budget, and yet it will have frictionless trade within the customs union. It is the ultimate have your cake and eating it type interim solution. It is delusional to think the EU wants to keep the UK in the backstop purgatory forever. On the contrary,it is far more likely the UK government might conclude that the backstop is a rather cozy place to be.More comfortable than the colder climate of a free trade deal”.

What I find dispiriting is that people like Boris carp and complain but come up with nothing constructive.Past history suggests he might well have speed read the withdrawal agreement if read it at all.

Very pessimistic about May's deal getting through the first vote in the Commons. I guess it's a nice job if you can get it. You can play games with other people's investments because these infantilized individuals have guaranteed seven figure inflation proof pension packages paid by us. Destroying the economy holds no fears for the political class.

May’s deal, which I don’t particularly like,is the best we can get.Unsatisfactory, but it addresses some of the main issues

Rubbish.

The better deal is CETA, May's deal is Remain with no say.
We voted LEAVE.

NI has been a confected issue to prevent UK moving away from EU customs Union which CETA would involve(hence CETA only applies to UK not Northern Ireland ie EU is trying to break UK up)

Nor does May's Withdrawal Agreement address any of the issues Sovereignty side -ECJ supremacy. In fact they make them worse.

This is not Brexit. It is Remain.

My suspicion is that May’s plan will indeed be voted down. However,we will then move towards a second referendum and the electorate will probably vote to leave again. The Teresa May deal will then be reintroduced to parliament and pass, as a No Deal is simply too disruptive. Its this thinking that is probably behind Clarke’s belief that the deal will pass on the second time of asking .There is more appetite nationwide for May’s deal than in the House of Commons. After 40 odd years, the idea that we can move to WTO rules without real economic hardship is ridiculous.(The agricultural industry is already shivering at the very idea).May’s deal, which I don’t particularly like,is the best we can get.Unsatisfactory, but it addresses some of the main issues.(Is it my imagination,or has Northern Ireland been an enduring conundrum throughout my existence).A General Election?..why on earth would the Tories vote for that, like Turkeys voting for Xmas.Anyway, the Labour Party don’t deserve the opportunity,theyR17;ve been unconstructive throughout this whole negotiation episode.

If this scenario played out,I’d expect TW to move back to 180-200p

Well spoon4, I am in my fifth house now and have made money every time I have sold.

And three of my four children have also bought properties. They all work and none of them have ever claimed a penny in benefits since leaving school.

Where there's a will there's a way.

Look for this share to fall to around 10P over next 3 years.

As the banks go bust the real value of a house is not a lot.

You will not get Jeremy Corbyn as Prime Minister you will get Sir Keir Starmer another Barrister with Emily Thornbury Barrister the wife of Sir Christopher Nugee who couldn't give a fig for the working man as for Diane Abbott she is Jeremys lookout.

Jugears - Surely our nation could not possibly vote for a front bench of Jeremy Corbyn, John McDonnel & Diane Abbot. That is when I know that the inmates have taken over the asylum.
