Today 2Pearly/Grax you are talking nonsense. FTSE down, DOW futures plummeting, TW up 3% and outperforming all others in the sector. Today so far is not just another TW day.

Same old, same old here at TW.

Tries every day to move up then either the FTSE wobbles [or it doesn't] and TW's confidence disappears and it walks back down again.

I suppose we can take a positive that it is still up [11.56am] at present when the general markets are doing their usual.

Hey ho just another day at TW.

* JP Morgan has an overweight and 58p target for Taylor Wimpey, an overweight and 210p target for Barratt Developments and downgrades Persimmon to neutral from overweight

Thats for April, and an average over the whole month. I would say Wimps was much higher than that after the last few weeks.

Here's a curious nugget,

GB0000811801 BARRAT DEVELOP 10P 94492003.05 910507399.00 10.37%

GB0008782301 TAYLOR WIMPEY 1P 173064368.45 3042751296.05 5.68%

Almost twice the amount out on loan for bdev than tw., I would have thought it would have been the other way around given recent volatility.

fletcher, I disagree, you only have to look at the importance placed on housing data to realise the impact on the economy.

House price recovery is central to any recovery it is the nations purse, it not only creates wealth (equity) but thousands of jobs.

If folks feel good about an increase in their property values they go out and spend simple as that.

"I think the gov are looking to stimulate the housing sector"

As jab118 correctly pointed out "housing sector recovers off the back of the economy (it doesn't have to boom)

But remember that this Government indents to give more planning powers to local groups (distinct & parish, church council's etc). Groups famous for their NIMBY's, so just how much housing land do you think is going to be approved. The outlook is that developers could well have to launch planning appeals on almost every site in order to permission. This in the short medium term could strangle the land flow, and hence the numbers being built.

Let hope for all the Developers share values, they re-think this policy

Shroder... How can you possibly comprehend, that stimulating the housing sector, will get the economy rolling ?.. I'm no economist, but my belief is the housing sector recovers off the back of a booming economy.. Do you understand the meaning of GDP ?

I think the gov are looking to stimulate the housing sector in order o get the whole economy roiling again, this can be seen with their reversal on HIPS.
