US home sales data were ahead of forecasts yesterday. Out of interest what percentage of Wimpey's business is US based? Surely there must be some positives coming from over the pond to offset the doom and gloom of the UK property market?

NMA, Does that mean companies like Vodafone which has billions in debt is also "not the best"?

You don't understand business, many companies run with debt, it's how you manage that debt, which TW is doing by reducing debt every year and now the company is making a porfit.

So you're post comes across as not very intelligent.

DEBT.

noddy31, TW have already written down.

Can you explain how it will be written down further?

How many % does the UK house prices need to go down for a further writedown?

The next results indicate a writeback with an increase in NAV - this is no secret.

So please explain your post, with facts to back it up.

Thanks

Temporary respite for many property developers.

Too much pressure on prices to go down.

The NAV will soon be revalued downwards as house prices and consequently land prices start to head down.

Many job losses coming soon and many more repossesions. The downward pressure is about to be unleashed.

The NAV will be hit hard at the next results.

Thanks Imatsu & Fewdollarsmore. I suppose the sane thing is to wait for early November unless the price takes another big dive and/or news of a US sale

PS - I sold these at around 36p (bought at around 25p), to buy TW.

So be careful who you take advice from...

imastu pidgitaswell,

As you say, they won't do a rights issue at this level, no chance.

I made some good money out of this last year, but took a big hit and am averaging at 43p now so hardly happy. The good news is that I can afford to hold for the long term if necessary ,but the question is how long? TW has consistently reduced debt in line with its forecasts, but will it be able to continue to do so and maintain its land bank.
Does anyone know when TW next report and secondly any views where the next line of resistance may be.
For the first time in a v.long time, I'm unsure whether this is a dead duck or getting close to an opportunity for a serious buy into my SIPP. Any considered thoughts much appreciated.
