What a difference a year makes....

Last year I felt the company were doing fine but any interest from investors seemed to come to nothing and even our own chairman was anti shareholders and zero engagement so potential investors stayed away.

This year even with Covid initially dampening things the company are trading well and importantly have engaged and embraced shareholders who actually just want the company to do well and understand the challenges and opportunities. The latter being very significant.

Now every time the share price slips there are buyers wanting to take an interest and shareholders keen to add more. It was the reverse with shareholders taking advantage of selling opportunities as they had got bored waiting in the past.

Basically I would summarise that the board and long term shareholders have become bonded and positivity has been injected. Investors need to feel positive and can ride the bumps so long as they can see the road ahead. We are now in tandem with a clear vision I feel !

Just my Friday thought....

Note...For Tiger and I it also helps that Everton are top of the league and that we have come through major hospitalisations this year. Live life and enjoy.

Sure we reported that forward containers were now June delivery such is demand.

I was very impressed with the bike range that we have ( even bought 2 whilst there).

If we just do the same as last year in the second half eps36p we achieve 58p.
Strip out 120p in cash from 420 gives 300p and a p/e of 5.

If the mix is better than last year and cycling remains strong ( we know it is )...

we could SMASH those numbers.

At the moment we are only valued a touch over NAV.

I still see 600p being a fair short term target.

Very encouraging update from Halfords. Bike sales growing strongly and supply improving. Should help Tandem share price.

I bought too.

can anyone see a 50k trade?

Biggest is 5k and not 50 traded.

They marked this lower BEFORE the announcement today and then shoved it straight back up as soon as I tried to buy.

Strange way they operate.

Great job David Monday.

That probably explains the share price weakness of the past week or so.

My understand is that Halfords are customers of TND.
TND have their IBD customers and of course their own brands Claud butler etc/Squish.
Supply is a major issue for all importers/ distributors and that’s not going to change any time soon. Lead times are now June 21.
Things may change depending on brexit and if the Chinese supply market opens up ( currently 48% tariff )
TND is moving into more direct sales via EXPRESSCO and this is the division that excites me most.
With the right distribution we could be doing a million a week D2C at good margins.
We have some valuable brands to boot.
I am more than happy with direction of travel

I have followed TND for some years; indeed I held a few in 2004, since when by looks there must have been some form of share consolidation (4 or 5 shares into 1?).

AIUI shareholders came a poor second to directors for many years which thankfully seems now to have been satisfactorily resolved. Also TND has been in a sweet spot in recent months in which their financial performance has been strong..

My question is whether TND have any sustainable competitive advantage whatsoever or could larger competitors, eg HFD on the bike front, come in and eat their lunch at any time, with TND fairly powerless in the process?

Thoughts much appreciated. Cheers, Martin

The profit will increase nav and the cash situation is not clear.
We are low on stock but it’s almost October and we will have some terms with suppliers.
The chances are cash may still be there as we have customers chasing us for stock so payment terms have improved.
Eitherway I am just suggesting a second half to match last year to get to 58 p eps.
Clearly there maybe an improvement .
The future is bright and all will be clearer I guess by the time we get full year results in March.
I am a buyer still having bought Friday
2500 and a 500

Let's hope so.
I would be very surprised and very pleased if cash is 8m at year end though. Working capital movement in H1 was very much in favour but surely that will reverse in H2.

Current market cap 19.63m less cash at the end of June 6m = 13.63m

The company will make in excess of 3m this year. That's a crazy valuation.

Expected year end NAV be about £18m and cash close on £8m.

The valuation needs to go up at least 50% to get even close to reflecting true worth.

I am keeping buying even if I need to declare.

You know the answer there.........however there maybe a reason .

That reason means they cannot currently trade.

I would expect to see our new directors take a position as soon as possible.

my delayed but at least reported 2500 at 385 was down as a ?
Well it was a buy but often if delayed the price moving up confuses the system.
