12/12/2016 10:44 | Pierre - except that Virgin Media is John Malone not Richard Branson these days, isn't it? Having said that, I've heard Mike Fries (of Liberty Global) speak on more than one occasion about the "rational competition" or "rational decisions" in the UK market - i.e. he appears to view the UK as a market where competitors will engage in price-cutting but only to the extent it makes sense in a reasonable time frame - in contrast with less "rational" markets where competitors are prepared to engage in price policies which lose money over the medium term in order to gain share for some strategic purpose. So while a move into "value broadband" by Virgin Media might be a concern for talktalk shareholders (unless it involves buying talktalk first) I tend to think Mike Fries would not sanction such a move if he thought it would lead to "irrational" pricing policies. | 1gw
12/12/2016 09:53 | Let's hope that Virgin Media's rumoured Project Prosecco becomes Project ProTalkTalk. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa

09/12/2016 16:35 | I suspect there was a bit of help at the end of the day from the announcement about the 21st Century Fox possible bid for Sky. Change and consolidation in the air again. Something for the weekend press to speculate on. | 1gw
09/12/2016 16:10 | Agree. A good time to buy in and expect £2 plus by end of January. | joemillion

08/12/2016 10:41 | Credit Suisse today issues broker note on TalkTalk and REITERATES its OUTPERFORM RECOMMENDATION with a TARGET PRICE of 260p. Whilst some brokers are negative, there is a good handful of top-tier brokers who remain very positive: Credit Suisse 8/12 REITERATE OUTPERFORM TARGET 260p Macquarie 24/11 REITERATE OUTPERFORM TARGET 290p Barclays 16/11 REITERATE OVERWEIGHT TARGET 250p Deutsche 14/11 REITERATE BUY TARGET 300p ALL IMO. 07/12/2016 20:08 | Still short although not been much movement. Will close half / out on 16th either way. More bad news today for them. Having been a customer I wouldn't trust them to run a bath let alone an isp. | peasterb
07/12/2016 09:57 | O/t, just to carry on the traders talk, risk etc ... Financial derivative companies (those who supply traders with a trading service) are to be investigated by the FsA to see why over 80% of traders lose money. From the news today. | pierre oreilly
05/12/2016 18:44 | Disclosed short positions. Eminence seem pretty intent on reducing their position: 27/11 2.28% short 28/11 2.16% 29/11 2.09% 30/11 1.97% 01/12 1.83% 02/12 1.76% | 1gw
02/12/2016 10:45 | Salpara ...I think its might be the case of not what you know but WHO you know! May be there is some kind of under the table deal she has with him...;-)!! | rb1206
02/12/2016 10:33 | Peas, hope you've deposited more than the minimum margin since that must be used up now.£2k per point is quite risky for something which could go the wrong way very quickly, I'd say 25p is a possible move in one day. Of course you would make a lot if it moved the right way for you. You have a bigger appetite for mega risks than I do. | pierre oreilly
02/12/2016 09:48 | Whichever way you cut the mustard, a fall in share price from 400p to 150p between 2015 and 2016 is bottom-drawer performance. It is dire. Longer-term shareholders have seen big falls. This is unacceptable in my view. The share price is now lower than it was 6 years ago in 2010. In my view, time is now up on the current Chief Executive who has presided over this bleak period where the market seems to have lost much confidence in TalkTalk, despite the attractive dividends paid. The ultimate responsibility must firmly rest in my opinion with the captain of the ship at the time of the juvenile hack-attack, from whence such market woe commenced. In my opinion only, Sir Charles Dunstone and his Board would be well-advised to start looking for a new CEO to help put Talktalk back on track in an attempt restore confidence and re-establish forward momentum. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
02/12/2016 09:02 | the most impressive thing about TalkTalk is Hardings ability to hold onto her million pound job! | salpara111
01/12/2016 23:05 | Thousands of Talk Talk users hit by another cyber attack | mornington crescent
01/12/2016 22:16 | Short to 1.10 @ 1k per penny from 1.54. Reduce short at 1.25, cover 1/3 @ 1.68 and 1/3 remaining @ 1.77. Should have held a piece of the short closed last year from Mid 2.50's. Buy / long at £1, 2k a penny at 0.89. Right or wrong, time will tell but that's my position. Talk talk are incompetence personified. If you have been a customer you will know first hand. If you were a shareholder you will no doubt have sold. Only regret is not going in short at 1.90. | peasterb
01/12/2016 19:34 | Disclosed short positions. Eminence down again for the third day running yesterday: 27/11 2.28% short 28/11 2.16% 29/11 2.09% 30/11 1.97% Seems odd that on the one hand we seem to have a period of shorts reducing their positions while on the other hand we have some "curious" negative articles/posts appearing (e.g. W1ndjammer's 100p note and all those posts the other day about "illegal" dividends). Or does it?? | 1gw
01/12/2016 16:26 | don`t think anyone would accept a bid anywhere near 150p wound need to be at least 300p The MM`S actually marked the share price up on open at the half year results which looked ok to me, strange the share price has not stopped falling since. Some oddball put out a note calling 100p stating TALK had increased their prices when in fact the exact opposite is true. so maybe dark forces at work. WJ. | w1ndjammer
01/12/2016 15:21 | Director buy 2 million shares has the share price hit a level where they think a takeover bid could be launched? | borg45
01/12/2016 11:18 | Decent volume this morning. Too much to hope that that plunge below 150p was capitulation? | 1gw
01/12/2016 09:36 | Say TalkTalk started in 2003, then it will probably survive for at least another 4 months but less than 507 years according to the Copernican longevity formula ( see time travel in einsteins universe by j gott) I think personally the lower figure may be the better consideration. Other companies such as Lloyds bank, rdsb have much better figures. That said look what happened to Marconi. And TT is much weaker. Just some thoughts. | xxxxxy |
