njb67,

As far as I can see, the Uk Government HAS put all its eggs in one basket.
The vaccine basket.
I am not aware that Southampton has a vaccine. Hence it does not exist within Government thinking. So far....

I think if they are not careful hospitals will have a problem soon and feel like, as normal, it is being sat on

The UK government is scanning for any treatments that can help with Covid. They have contracts in place for multiple vaccines, so are not putting all their eggs in one basket. It would make no sense to favour Oxford over Southampton.

We know that Dexamethasone became standard of care in hospitalised Covid patients within six weeks of results being published, so they will move at pace too.

As far as I can tell, everyone is waiting for a signal from the regulators that they are happy with the full data set.

Btw, the UK is still in the EU, so the reference to EU professionals merely reflects that the scheme is available to all existing EU countries.

Read the Clinigen/SNG release again it specifically states 'EU Professionals' so they are looking to Europe more than the UK. Obviously feel UK has tunnel vision to Oxford only
