Divergence from the relative strength, note the positions of the two most recent highs and the two most recent highs of the RSI, The trend lines of these two points move in the opposite direction.

Ps, this is only the hour chart, so not a reliable indicator for the buy and hold investors

I think as much as those who wish these lower, to find an entry level they have missed, I doubt these will retrace far with a Trading Update next week.Perhaps if the update makes negative reading, but we shall see. Personally, I am pound cost average adding here whenever funds allow.

Thanks. It's been up and down and got a bit worrying in the low 80s but selling now would be premature when the party is only just getting going.Still great value in the medium term.In 2022 the chip shortages will ease, industry will continue to pick up.

Technically in the short term it’s more bullish than bearish. Resistance looking like 119p…nb I’m not a TA expert

From a charting perspective is it best to hold now or lighten the load for a potential retrace

It's done it quickly too. I've only my freebies running here and was hoping to add a few more but missed it as was waiting for sub 90 again like a greedy little git.

Price of Lithium for EV Batteries More Than Quadruple to Record High in China

10/15/2021 | 05:30am BST

(MT Newswires) -- The price of lithium used in electric-car batteries surged more than fourfold over the past 12 months to a new record high, Caixin Global reported Thursday, citing data from metal research institute Shanghai Metals Market.

Battery-grade lithium carbonate prices have jumped 360% over the past year to 184,800 yuan ($28,690) per ton as of Tuesday, exceeding the previous record of 170,000 yuan per-ton in late September, the report said.

The surge came amid strong demand for batteries from electric carmakers such as Tesla, Tencent Holdings-backed (HKG:0700) Nio, Alibaba Group-backed (HKG:9988) Xpeng Motors and BYD (SHE:002594, HKG:1211).

In September, sales of new-energy vehicles in China soared 150% year over year to a record 357,000 units despite the shortage of semiconductors.

To meet the growing demand for batteries, companies like Contemporary Amperex Technology or CATL (SHE:300750) have doubled down on lithium battery production.

CATL recently outbid Ganfeng Lithium (SHE:002460, HKG:1772) to acquire Canada's Millennial Lithium for C$377 million ($304.5 million) and secured a multi-year battery supply contract with US-based commercial electric-vehicle maker Electric Last Mile Solutions.

Shares of CATL rose more than 5% at midday Friday.

Yeah the general news that’s in the media seems to indicate the chip shortage will drag on longer and likely to hit car production harder. That said, SLP is still making a shed load of money even if PMG metals stay around current price. Even the latest price projections have rhodium steady or incubation up till eoy.

To add to that.. If the missed production is more than double what they expected then perhaps the problem is also significantly greater than initially anticipated.

It's not so much whether you want one par se but more indicative of wider problem.250,000 cars is equivalent to approximately 400,000 pgm ounces a year I believe and that's just one brand name of motors

"Volkswagen AG’s Skoda unit will produce 250,000 fewer cars than planned this year due to the global chip shortage, Automobilwoche magazine reported, more than double the number that the company estimated last month."
