£477 worth of share sales knocks £3m off Sterling's market capitalisation.

Suppose that's small caps for you.

This page from Jacka Resources shows where the Odewayne Block is:

Also here's an interview about the politics:
hxxp://www.ibtimes.com/somaliland-oil-minister-breakaway-region-basket-case-somalia-says-east-africa-new-middle-east

This should be a really interesting end to the year. With so much controlled by Waterford and Soyuzneftegaz, I can't see SEY remaining public for long.

Somaliland, LOL, I suppose the literal translation is "the land of the Somalis"

Although SEY have done nothing to improve my financial position, I do feel that my geographic knowledge of obscure countries has greatly benefited!

On 28(th) October 2013, Sterling Energy Plc, the AIM listed independent oil & gas exploration and production company (AIM: SEY), announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Sterling Energy (East Africa) Limited ("Sterling"), had executed a Farmout Agreement for the Production Sharing Contract of the Odewayne Block (the "PSC"), located onshore in the Republic of Somaliland, with Petrosoma Limited ("Petrosoma").

The consent of the Government of Somaliland to the transaction has been granted and completion under the Farmout Agreement has now occurred.

Following completion, the holders of the PSC are now:

Genel Energy Somaliland Limited (Operator) 50%
Sterling Energy (East Africa) Limited 10%
Petrosoma Limited 10%
Jacka Resources Somaliland Limited 30%
Sterling Energy Plc.'s Chairman, Alastair Beardsall, said:

"We are very pleased to have completed the acquisition of a 10% interest in the Odewayne Block in Somaliland. We consider the Odewayne Block to be highly prospective and look forward to working with our joint venture partners in the exploration of this largely unexplored block."

Yes indeed some action at last. Not too much original thought required to follow in the footsteps of Tony Hayward and Genel but welcome nevertheless to know that the BoD is still breathing!

From the posts I have read here, they just don't want to dilute existing upside with some dubious new projects. Cash is the king.

I think it is a public knowledge that share price is 95% supported by cash and Murphy is planning to drill Cameroon in Feb 2014 or later. What else do you need to know?
