Buy Starvest at 13p says UKMicrocap.com

Starvest (SVE) is an investment vehicle run by small cap mining specialist Bruce Rowan. The investment case is simple. If you want exposure to soaring commodity prices and a company whose shares are trading at a massive discount to net asset value then Starvest is for you!

As at 13th December Starvest's net asset value per share was 24.01p. This had rocketed from 11.28p at the end of September due to a stellar performance from a number of its investee companies. That means at the current share price of 13p Starvest shares trade at a huge 46% discount to net assets.

We would expect some kind of discount in the shares to reflect the illiquidity of the companies in which Starvest is invested. But we believe that the current discrepancy is far too much considering the potential that some of the investee firms have and the very strong outlook for commodities. BUY.

Hopefully a useful mention:

In the money option shares only take 0.5p off the NAV value without accounting for extra cash in the balance sheet.

the 15p option shares should not be taken into consideration until the share price passes 15p as they are out the money.

Just re-checking and realised I hadn't added the option shares (assuming exercised) back into the total. So my NAV now 27.68p.

Outsider,
Have put my own spreadsheet together. As per the Company I'm applying a 20% discount on PLUS stocks. I've assumed selling 2.3m treasury shares at current price, also assumed BEM warrants will be exercised before 21 June 2011, have assumed will take C$0.90 for FRA and for share options I have used the following figures off the Starvest website:

2.975m at 15p
300k at 6p
500k at 5p

I get NAV of 30.36p

Discount a bit ridiculous now, must be circa 55% to NAV.

Had a very prompt reply from John Watkins at SVE. Within the e-mail he stated?

"As you may know, not all your fellow shareholders agree that buy-backs are a great idea; we have a lively discussion at the AGM each year."

Think a few more of you need to e-mail and make the same suggestion!

Duluth Metals (who have bid for FRA) closed at a 52-week high of C$2.90 bid. Option was to take C$0.90 (57.9p equiv) per FRA share or 0.328DM shares per FRA share. Taking the DM shares would be slightly better at present at C$0.951. The deal won't be finalised (if approved) until Feb 2011.

SRES now 28% up today (3.7p to sell), and BEM consolidating nicely just below 30p ready to surge up through it?

PS. Have e-mailed the company asking why they aren't filling their boots with share buybacks given current major discount to NAV.

SRES up 20% today. Now 3.5p to sell. Should all look very nice if Outsider updates the spreadsheet above after todays close.

its even stevens, well you can sell 50k above bid, and buy 50k at full offer, so slightly in favour of a tick up.

A bit of loose stock was weighing on the price, I think that 100,000 buy toward close may have mopped it up.

Much as I didn't want to, just sold 18000 TRK shares to buy another 30000 of these (now got 80000). Took ages to get and had to pay 13.3p as others obviously also topping up at the same time - just my luck!

Hope to make at least 20%+ here and maybe get back into TRK later (although I've still got 36000 TRK).

I think about 1m to be added to header since last update, hope to get roud to updating soon......so that's 10% increase, in turn 10% on 25.7p = 28.2p -30% = share price should be around 19.8p

Some of the significant changes to those in header:

Beowulf 27p
Kefi up over 50% at 6.3p
Sheba up circa 50% at 3.05p
Sunrise up c 33% 3.05p
Franconia up 50% at 60p
