Impressive, but still has a tiger in the tank imo.

Get the feeling these will do a Hydro International and re-rate from here on a pretty firm run. PE still very low for the record of growth this has over the last 4 years. Also looks like a Jim Slater Zulu stock now to me in many of the areas Slater pointed too.

Expecting a lot more from these.

thanks gatesdie..Napolean makes some reasonable points but he ignores the following:
1.. we are no longer in the high interest rate high inflation environment
2 The worlds political map has changed dramatically over the last 30years and every change has created its own historical interest
3People today have far more disposable income now than say 30 yrs ago
4 The emerging economies like China, India and Russia are collecting memorabilia not only as investment but also for interest in nations historical record
5 Prices are detemined by supply and demand and there is more demand now than there is supply..imo this is set to continue
6 The internet which was non existent 30 yrs ago (as far as the general public go) has stimulated trading in collectables and developed and propagated wider interests
7 Interest is also being stimulated by the media including TV programmes like the Antiques Roadshow
I could go on but you get the drift.....

Today's Telegraph Money supplement - Alternative Investments article this week is on the autograph market. The article includes references to Fraser's Autograph Gallery and even quotes Fraser's phone number for collector's information.

The article highlights how autograph proces have appreciated over the years.

Further good publicity for Stanley Gibbons in a very good couple of days.

I used to be a stamp collector when I was much younger and still have the old albums (quite a few in fact). It often crosses my mind to get back into it, but as of yet Im not old enough(or young enough) to devote the time to it! I suspect many stamp collectors are in this particular position. My point is this:

The SG 100 is a fantastic catalyst to get the stamp collectors of yesterday back into it. As you get older you get wiser. As a kid I wasnt concerned about the "value" of these stamps, I was more interested in how many different countries I could get, how many different shapes there were, etc. This SG 100 moves stamp collecting into the forefront of investing - I dare say it will out perform the FTSE with ease through a complete cycle. For the older investors - they can see their investment AND in all likelihood will not depreciate over time(thats the investment not them!)!

I tend to see stamps akin to paintings and pottery - they are works of at art. They record History! They capture the emotions of the time, the events, even the comedy! Stamps are more than just a means of getting something from A to B.

I personally have many stamps of West and East Germany. Countries that no longer exist! There are finite amounts of these stamps - another is czechoslovakia. As the years go by stamps such as these will become most wanted by collectors.

SGI's value is ASSET backed and whats more, these assets will NOT depreciate! They will be worth more!
