13/1/2012 21:28 | May buy back in again but still got a niggle with management. We will see. | battlebus2
13/1/2012 20:29 | SGI was in this weeks shares magazine as one of its top 10 great value stocks. Hardly moved the price though. Range still very tight. News mon ? or tues? Is anyone else interested ? My guess is monday. | ![]() jeanesy
12/1/2012 19:00 | Incredibly tight trading range on this one now. MM's do not want to let this one go. It is hard to work out how many are buys and sells. News not far away now, mon or tues me thinks ! | ![]() jeanesy
08/1/2012 15:26 | I am expecting a trading update in the next 10 days ( 17th jan last year ) All has been quiet on the news front since August when we were told that talks would be held in the USA in sep and Hong Kong office would also open. I am hoping for news on both fronts and a positive update to give us a boost which could be the start of a great year for collectables. | ![]() jeanesy
06/1/2012 14:59 | The sell price is above the mid-price. Very tight spread . I am expecting these to move anytime now. | ![]() jeanesy
05/1/2012 12:22 | It sure does and i am a little surprised the price here has not moved yet. There is so much potential in stamps and coins this year with the silver jubilee and Olympics just around the corner. | ![]() jeanesy
05/1/2012 10:19 | Lots of buying in last few days, hopefully good news just around the corner. | ![]() jeanesy
03/1/2012 14:38 | Year end over. Trading update coming soon ? Let us hope it is a positive one. I will be going to the stamp trade fair the weekend 21st Jan in York . Stanley gibbons are normally there . I will try and get some info but am hoping for a positive update on trading before then. | ![]() jeanesy
21/12/2011 08:19 | Great article in money observer highlighting what a great year it has been for stamps in 2011 with an even better year forecast in 2012. These have to be a bargain at these prices and in these uncertain times i cant understand why the price is so stagnant. Then there is the added bonus of the Olympics and the stamps being produced for them , the business at the Strand should do really well. I thought investors were supposed to look forwards ? | ![]() jeanesy
20/12/2011 17:42 | I am amazed the price has not moved upwards. Some sizeable buys today. Not long me thinks and hopes ! | ![]() jeanesy
20/12/2011 16:05 | I have a small stamp portfolio with SG and have just had the annual valuation, which shows a 6.1% increase and some of the items have not gone up as they are due to be in catalogues out in 2012 - so generally looking good. | ![]() riskblue
18/12/2011 13:30 | hi jeanesy Some of us are still here at least. I haven't posted anything because I don't think there is anything to say. Historic PE is still in double figures and I'm not aware of any changes to forecasts showing sedate but decent growth. Eps percentage has grown in single digits over the last three years, so a racier valuation is not likely, especially since the AIM index has had a bad year. We are some way from news in February. Share price is therefore behaving entirely predictably. Nothing to worry about in my view :-) cheers WCB | ![]() westcountryboy
17/12/2011 16:26 | Well no response to my comments - is there anybody there !! Surely in this market turmoil stamps must be doing well as an investment ? Avr and nbl have both posted positive results , but there has been no response in our shareprice. Does anybody have any news to share here ? I am wondering if a top-up may be a good idea once i have some funds ?? | ![]() jeanesy
08/12/2011 20:11 | AVR up very strongly today. Market for coins doing very well. Market for stamps ? We have hardly moved in ages ( slightly downwards ! since i last posted ) Clearly there is no interest here! | ![]() jeanesy
25/11/2011 20:07 | we appear to have flat-lined! Will someone please give us a jolt to get this moving , hopefully upwards !! | ![]() jeanesy
19/11/2011 13:55 | All quiet here , i'm hoping the chart will follow what happened last year, there are some strong similarities for the last few weeks ! Are we due any news? | ![]() jeanesy
17/11/2011 15:00 | If alternative investment is your bag then you are no doubt following two quoted companies at the cutting edge of this specialist area. One would be Noble Investments (LON:NBL), which specialises in coins, and the other is undoubtedly Stanley Gibbons, whose shop on the Strand is a Mecca for stamp collectors. The recent opening of an office in Hong Kong reveals Stanley Gibbons going international. | paved
07/11/2011 11:42 | The directors of Deltex Medical (AIM: DEMG), Silence Therapeutics (AIM: SLN) and Stanley Gibbons (AIM: SGI) will be presenting in London on: Wednesday 23rd November 2011 VENUE: Chesterfield Mayfair Hotel, 35 Charles Street, Mayfair, W1J 5EB (Charles Suite) The presentations will start at 6:00pm and finish at approx 7:30pm. After the presentations are complete the directors will also be available to take questions during a free canapé and wine reception. REGISTER YOUR ATTENDANCE HERE: | ![]() ceohunter
03/11/2011 07:52 | Stanley Gibbons (LON:SGI) celebrated the opening of its new Hong Kong office recently with a Champagne reception. However investors in the group should be raising a glass to the sheer resilience of the stamps and collectables group. | ![]() lucky_punter
27/10/2011 13:07 | Thanks t.m (post864), I take comfort & encouragement from your comments. Have tucked them away in my bottom drawer! | bleuville
27/10/2011 11:39 | I have held this share since 2004 and have seen this happen many times before. Unless your are thinking of buying or selling then just ignore the price fluctuations - it's just the market makers messing around with the prices on minimal actual trading. They walked the price up to 190p a month or so back (at which point I sold a few) and now they are walking it down again. When the results are out in Feb and the dividend increases the price will go up again. | ![]() tom.muir
27/10/2011 11:06 | jeanesy, like you, I find SGI's share price progress (or lack of!) quite baffling & frustrating. The fundamentals (P/E, yield, div cvr) seem pretty sound: press comment, with one notable exception, has generally been positive: the company's not standing still but moving into new markets. Looking at the 12 month chart, 150ish looks like a floor (depressing prospect). Perhaps misguidedly I shall sit tight, collect the dividend and wait for the world to catch up! | bleuville
26/10/2011 12:47 | How low is this going to go , support level anyone? | ![]() jeanesy |
