Personally, I'm not a fan of Blackrock but, hey, their money is as good as anybodys. With sovereigns heading for the drainhole at an alarming rate, inflation hedge stocks are going to be popular . Would not be surprised to see takeover activity here, we're getting towards that point in the cycle.

Blackrock holding now above 9% . Not sure how many shares they bought. Maybe the price has been marked down for them ? Let us hope we move back up from here !

Some big buys today on what was a terrible day for the markets, would anyone like to speculate about what may be happening. Is there news due or are people realising this maybe a safe haven for their cash ?

Very good relative strength on the day the Footsie had its largest fall since November 2008.

I see that NBL has reported it expects results to be significantly ahead of expectations, it is time that sgi reported some good news. Hopefully all is proceeding as planned.

Def not alone.

SG are about to move into new premises in Jersey (in the street where all the lawyers are based).

Could be some interesting lunchtime shopping ahead!

Seems like the holding news dated 16th august has given us the answers . Is it a sign of madness writing postings to yourself ? Is there anybody there ?

It always amazes me how small Stanley Gibbons is, mkt cap of £45m It's a massive market to aim at, they need to get out there more and grab it, and opening a new office in Hong Kong is a step in the right direction. The opportunities are there for SGI (and it's shareholders).

Peel Hunt estimate the asset value of SGI to be £45.2m (179p per share), including the stamps and memorabilia at market value rather than book value.

Apparently the SGI website has been very busy during this period of financial panic, as people look for alternative investments.

Evening jeanesy. Thanks for your comment on the Mail write up - I'd missed that on my first trawl thru' the paper (I must be preoccupied with the current market mayhem!)

There's a good piece on our favourite stock on page 47 of today's Times.

Sales up 25% Earnings 11% Expected further growth from panic/crisis/armageddon elsewhere....They're only on a pe of around 10 now...Increased divi. Yield 3.3%...You'd hope some would see the wisdom of parking some money in SGI until the anxiety dies down.
