08/12/2010 16:48 | Will have a look 2magpies but I bought some Raven Russia today on the back of the Ruskies winning the World Cup bid! | ygor705
07/12/2010 18:54 | ygor705 Don't forget Avarae Global (AVR) of course -- very interesting situation -- and NBL have a stake in it. Unlikely to stay independent for long imo. | 2magpies
07/12/2010 18:24 | The news background for SGI has improved markedly since the time of the last results. At that point, I closed off the sale of about 80% of my holding made at around the 190p level and I'm glad that I did. The share price has a good feel about it at the moment and volume is picking up. My gut feeling is that it will move on from here. I've also looked at NBL and although it looks like a reasonable situation my inclination, like Jeanesy, is to stay with SGI for the time being. | ygor705
07/12/2010 08:51 | Yeah i've held SGI for years and get a little frustrated at times with the shareprice but maybe this time we can hit £2 very soon. This area of alternative investments has benefited NBL so lets hope SGI will follow. | battlebus
06/12/2010 20:14 | I am happy to stay here at the moment Battlebus. | jeanesy
05/12/2010 21:26 | Jeanesy move over to NBL | battlebus
05/12/2010 13:39 | This might explain the current small rise imo. Onwards ad upwards please | jeanesy
02/12/2010 15:09 | Their new offering (the FTM - Flexible Trading Portfolio) will be better for SG than the Active Management Portfolio / AMP) as it should see SG retaining more profit. As an investor in the AMP, however, it means far less profit, and much less flexibility so will probably mean I move my portfolio investment elsewhere. Will be interesting to see how this balances out for SG. | 2020hindsight
02/12/2010 15:05 | A move up at last ! | jeanesy
29/11/2010 17:59 | Wow someone bought 125k worth today | jeanesy
09/11/2010 19:58 | With noble doing so well i would have expected a rise in sgi by now, please! | jeanesy
05/11/2010 09:31 | This from yesterday: " WH Ireland kicked off coverage of Noble Investments(UK) (LON:NBL) this morning with a "buy" rating of the rare coin investment specialist. The broker said that while there were other collectibles businesses on the market (namely Stanley Gibbons Group (LON:SGI) and Avarae Global Coins (LON:AVR) ), Noble's net asset position "is substantially understated" in the accounts and pretty much underpins the current market capitalisation (116p per share/£18m). It said there was room for 50% upside, or 174p per share, when taking into account the value of Noble's freehold property in central London its and 11.35% shareholding in Avarae." This probably hasn't hasn't escaped the attention of SGI | 2magpies
04/11/2010 22:39 | How long before SGI takes over NBL? | 2magpies
03/11/2010 20:31 | Slight increase in SG100 Index in sep | jeanesy
29/10/2010 20:16 | A couple of nice buys this afteroon, hopefully the start of a move up. | jeanesy
12/10/2010 19:47 | Some nice buys this afternoon. | jeanesy
26/9/2010 22:43 | Enough of your sniping and arguing, bookworm1. | moathunter
26/9/2010 21:51 | Two indicators that it is likely fully valued. Fundamental or technical? Do you even know that there is a difference? Wilmdav is an experienced investor in this stock and he has taken the trouble to look at the company reports and meet the board. Yet you skim over the point that he makes as well without comprehending the point that he is making. So there seems little point in trying to engage you as you are not willing to listen to other people and seem to think that you know it all. Its a good starting point for learning. | bookworm1
26/9/2010 18:10 | Your answering the questions but missing the points that I am making. You seem to think that I am sniping at you. But they are genuine statements and invitations to do more research as I suspect you might change your perception about some of the things you have said. Do lighten up. No point in getting emotional over a stock. I'm only discussing the fundamentals, director's actions and conservative projections. No your not you are ignoring some fundamental points about this stock and I am trying to show you what they are. Yet your responses suggest that you are either not able or unwilling to try and understand what I am saying. Try reading what I am saying without thinking that it is a personal attack and look at the questions I am asking you. The question is not how do you calculate 15%? I am questioning why you should use this rate as a benchmark at all? You are putting the cart before the horse. Your first sentence of your original article actually suggested why this approach might not be appropriate and why I am criticizing the conclusion as I do not think you have concluded anything from your analysis. However as a statement of fact you are entitled to make that statement but it yields nothing because all you are saying is I have used this cut off rate. I am more interested in your analysis of SGI which seems flawed and contradictory to me. | bookworm1
25/9/2010 15:24 | Whatever the fundamentals are for this business, sentiment has changed and we are now on the uptick again. Personally, I do not think that the market rating of SGI has ever been anything other than that of a "plodder" so I can't get too enthused by ex-growth arguments.......howe | ygor705
25/9/2010 11:15 | A very positive article Andy. Hopefully the stock will continue with its upwards momentum. | jeanesy |
