27/1/2006 12:30 | Hi Andaleg, Watching very closely at the moment, because it appears to be an interesting phase at present. As of last night, resistance levels shown on my charts at 54.0, 55.5 and 56.0. As you know, ideally there would be break and hold above these levels, with a small period of consolidation to convert them into support levels. Support is currently showing on my charts at 52.0 (quite strong), then 43.0. Surprisingly enough, my intra-day trend forecast on the chart is showing weakness and predicting a limited downturn - that is why I'm paying some close attention ! | desperate dan
27/1/2006 12:11 | From Investtech:- "SPIRENT ORD 3 1/3P has fallen back towards the floor of the rising trend channel. A continued rise may be expected and the current price level may be a good entry price. Is moving within a rectangle formation between support at 43.85 and resistance at 52.92. A decisive break through one of these levels indicates the new direction for the the stock. The stock has support at p 43.00 and resistance at p 55.00. The stock is overall assessed as technically slightly positive for the medium long term." My reading of the charts indicates strong resistance at 55p and we really need to break and stay above this number in order to make further progress. Dan if your there - whats your reading. | andaleg

26/1/2006 23:05 | ...and I'm simply saying that if Lehman Bros. think it's a good idea... They, Goldman and Sun Life probably know more than we do.... Lehman Lifts Price Target On Spirent Tuesday, January 24, 2006 5:57:10 AM ET Dow Jones Newswires 0932 GMT [Dow Jones] Lehman Brothers retain Spirent's (SPM.NYS) overweight rating, 59p target. Views the acquisition of SwissQual positively, based on growth prospects, profitability and reasonable valuation. "We expect Spirent to continue growing organically and via M&A, which is appropriate given the consolidating and increasingly competitive telecom test market." Shares trade +1.9% at 52.5p. 26/1/2006 13:52 | i am questioning whether management are making the correct use of shareholders money. ie perhaps they should invest more in their existing businesses rather than pay huge premiums on acquisitions. what would it cost them to build a swissqual from scratch? is it the lazy way of ramping up their businesses? i dont want to see a repeat of past boom and bust episodes which have been driven by over-optimistic assumptions on acquisitions. shares were in the red this morning, lift up this afternoon likely explained by the stocks sensitivity to market risk. | the knife

26/1/2006 13:23 | knife - Why are you so keen on Goldman's opinion, rather than that of Lehman Bros. or JP Morgan? Is it because you are short, or looking for an entry point? PS. - Going nowhere! Looks like a pretty steady trend north-east to me. | fouroaks
26/1/2006 13:18 | knife - are you also known as rescuer? Same incorrect use of the word 'whom'. | fouroaks
26/1/2006 11:07 | as i said before why cant SPT invest in their own businesses, ramp them up to grow at 38%pa, rather than buy some young upstart whom have motivated themselves to do that? | the knife
26/1/2006 11:05 | IMO not surprising these shares are not going anywhere. the swissqual acquisition "very pricey" as put by goldman i think, smells of past excesses. will take time to prove otherwise, and what track record does the new CEO have with acquisitions? is it really going to be different this time? or is shareholders money just going to be used to buyout entrepreneurs at inflated prices? | the knife
