19/7/2005 22:18 | Nice 4 ticks up today. | lord buffett
17/7/2005 02:10 | Good match. According to the papers instead of 100,000 people watching the match tonight, expected millions. Amir khan won which was a good match and he will recieve some boosting for coming in with a union jack and promising his winning money to the injured of the last weeks bomb. Imo we seem to be entering a new phase in uk boxing. | ![]() hirschnathan
13/7/2005 19:44 | Finally they decided it was important to release. I had to call their broker, their pr team (hansard) leave a message with ed simons secretary. But its here. Immediate release: 13 July 2005 Sports Network Group Plc ("Sports Network") Re. Agreement Sports Network, Frank Warren's leading boxing promotion and management business, is pleased to announce that an agreement has been signed with ITV Networks for the exclusive broadcast of Sports Network shows for a period of two years. The agreement, which is mutually exclusive, will cover up to thirty-six shows over a two year period. The first fight under the agreement takes place this weekend and features Amir Khan's professional debut on the under card of the British Heavyweight Championship between Matt Skelton and Danny Williams. | ![]() hirschnathan
12/7/2005 16:49 | Although the sky deal is out of the window now, and it hasn't shown up as a good deal regarding the share price even with pay per view, I think FW as an "old hand" will have done a lucrative deal with ITV, and given the terrestrial audience will IMO be good for the SP, I expect this to rise quite a bit more yet! | jethr0
12/7/2005 11:42 | at what price??? | sawbones
12/7/2005 11:27 | The 200,000 that you will see going thru sometime today is not a sell. | ![]() hirschnathan
11/7/2005 19:08 | Champ Froch to go Stateside Jul 11 2005 By The Huddersfield Daily Examiner A LACK of TV coverage is the biggest threat to Carl Froch's blossoming career, says the British and Commonwealth super-middleweight boxing champion. Froch has indicated he is willing to go to America in search of glory as he attempts to move up in class. After dismantling Matthew Barney over 12 rounds at the Nottingham Arena, Froch is even hungrier for success, as is Bradford's Junior Witter, who jointly topped the bill with his tedious but victorious European light-welter title defence against Andreas Kotelnik. But both men realise the importance of regular television exposure. And, after Frank Warren agreed a deal with ITV which will see his Sports Network stable dominate the terrestrial scene, Froch admits it may be difficult to further boost his profile on this side of the Atlantic. "It's hard to comment on what (contract) Frank Warren's got, what ITV are doing and whether or not they are going to give dates to other promoters," said Froch. "It's a difficult one. All I know is my promoter Mick Hennessy will do what is right for me. "If that means going over to America and fighting there, that's what I am prepared to do because I'm struggling to get a (world) title challenge over here." Froch's stock Stateside has been boosted by a co-promotional deal with Oscar de la Hoya, who has also recruited Witter. | ![]() hirschnathan
03/7/2005 23:07 | The point being that if all matches will be on itv there wont be any pay per view matches, which is most profitable. You may not be a real boxing fan, neither am I, but if you were you would pay th £10 or whatever it costs, especially if you would have gone to the match. The ricky hatton match 20,000 tickets, sold in 2 hours think how many people didnt get tickets who pro paid to watch? What is unclear as always with sop, look back at the thread which I started sop entering russia, such an expansion should have had an rns, which didnt. Sop investor relaations are poor, which may pick up, after some decent results come out, hopefully interims. (2nd half is always more profitable) I am not trying to damp spirits, I try and post honest research. | ![]() hirschnathan
03/7/2005 15:03 | hirschnathan - I do realise that it's just ITV, but my post was badly phrased. The reason I feel that the contract will be lucrative is because people like myself are not interested in pay-per-view for boxing matches. Indeed I have only bothered to watch boxing once in recent years. Guess which bout? Amir Khan has rekindled my interest in the sport as has Ricky Hatton and I shall be watching far more boxing in the future. If Khan's fight hadn't been on ITV then I almost certainly wouldn't have bothered. I am sure other sports fans feel the same! As an investment case, your last paragraph sums it up quite neatly. | ![]() michaelmouse
03/7/2005 14:09 | Michael- the last paragraph He said: "I feel the sport can now go from strength to strength and with so many new stars coming through, this is going to be a long-term plan. I am obviously sad to be leaving Sky after 10 years but it was time for a change." Clearly unhappy with the satellite channel's decision to move many fights to Friday nights, Warren's prospective turn back to terrestrial TV gained momentum. -------------------- Its not itv as well as sky, its just itv now, which may or not be worthwhile. How do you know if it will be lucrative? you can hope and only hope. For some reason boxing in the uk hasnt taken off, our only chance is with likes of ricky hatton. Amir khan imo wont last to long, ricky seem to be a pro. Yes advfn have the wronk mkt cap, I think the correct value should be about £6m, but still with profits prob about the £2m mark thats without taking into account the pay per view for the ricky hatton match, were trading on a pe of 3, 12-15p would be fair value | ![]() hirschnathan

02/7/2005 12:29 | It's not a rumour it has appeared on the Frank Warren t.v. site. The deal is done apparently, hence the info about 20 fights per annum. I will post the web address when I have more time. | ![]() michaelmouse
02/7/2005 12:21 | Let's wait and see... michaelmouse - give us more details on your news ? where did you see this ? | ![]() rcktmn
01/7/2005 22:08 | Big time Boxing back on terrestrial t.v.(ITV). Fantastic stuff! I assume an RNS will be released on Monday with further info on the broadcasting deal (20 fights per annum). | ![]() michaelmouse
07/6/2005 09:19 | I'm holding and hoping for better times too! | ![]() rcktmn
06/6/2005 20:38 | Yes things are not very rosy! Frank Warren & family own 73+% of the shares,(well, up to last week he did, before transferring/selling 12.698 million to Elstein at 3.15p) so there are approx 50+ mill left to account for in free float, city boys may be wary of this because of F Warrren's past record involving accountancy at 29 Co's, (see header), you must DYOR and read into this what you personally feel, I'm holding and hoping for better times! | jethr0
06/6/2005 19:29 | Nothing's adding up here share price going down.. mkt cap too low... must be something going on in the background... However, there's never been that much volume on this share at the best of times ! Perhaps the're just trying to drum up some business by taking this down.. | ![]() rcktmn
06/6/2005 17:56 | Am I missing something here or would the profits from last year be higher than the mkt. cap of this share:- From the results The underlying results of the Sports Network business in 2004, included as a note to the accounts, show turnover of 12,876,000 and profits of 2,001,000 before tax, interest and goodwill amortisation. And now mkt. cap 1.7 million or have ADVFN for this wrong as usual? | ![]() beckaroo
06/6/2005 15:47 | tick down, just doesnt make sense. | ![]() hirschnathan |
