14/11/2006 09:41 | I'm sure there are others, but I don't know of any other major listed ones, or with a presence in Europe at the very start of its interactive growth, and indeed a cash cow (payphones) which will provide cash for many years to come & are also used as a marketing tool, hence one recent aquisition of payphones, that had a payback in 1 or 2 years, but more importantly led to new hotel customers to market their goods of Wi-fi & internet terminals. If you find naything interesting be sure to let us know...thanks. | ![]() outsider
14/11/2006 09:00 | Wow. That was quick. Thanks for those comments. I just feel there must be other people out there. For example, I was reading this press release concerning the latest £5m BAA contract: It specifically mentions "a competitive tender process". Also, SIN's homepage states that "through its Internet division the company is a market leader in the provision of public internet access terminals in the UK". Note that it doesnt say that it is "THE" market leader. I am comforted by the fact that SIN seems to be dominant in airports and has a decent platform in hotels. It also seems to be the only listed specialist in this area (as far as I know). However, I reckon there must be other products out there and I'd like to know whether there are some amazing alternatives just waiting to hit the market | ![]() judge jury
14/11/2006 08:51 | I've seen one or two "Easyinternet" installations, including one at Whiteleys Shopping Centre. | ![]() wiganer
14/11/2006 08:47 | Welcome Judge. I'm not sure. Spectrum are pretty unique in Airports, I think they have all the major ones bar Manchester. Lots of competition in hotels, but again Spectrum have the really big chains & partner with T mobile, plus Spectrum are very responsible regarding content on computers. They pay a fortune to get porn filtered etc (might not suit some!) but when winning contracts, it's important, & because they are the biggest provider in Europe I believe, that is another attraction, because, whoever wants internet or Wi-fi, wants the company to be around in a year's time! | ![]() outsider
14/11/2006 08:41 | Hello everyone - I am new to SIN and have just started my research. I would be most grateful if someone could list a few other companies in the UK that compete with Spectrum (i.e. who else installs and services internet access terminals in the UK)? With huge thanks in advance. | ![]() judge jury

12/11/2006 17:19 | According to Mail on Sunday, Travelodge has 250,000 rooms & intends to double its number of hotels in the UK in the next 3 years (2010)and expand on continent as well. Very very good news for spectrum. (from Investors Chronicle last month: "To date 300 hotels have been wired including Travelodge and Premier Travel Inns, covering 30,000 rooms.") | ![]() outsider
10/11/2006 19:03 | Still a few sellers around i expect we will have to wait a while yet before the next level which is surely coming. | ![]() battlebus

09/11/2006 08:46 | No probs Wig, you pay your money & take your choice. They have been given far too many chances & unlike SIN not a heavy holding. Will have a look at BRST, need to re-invest the proceeds. | ![]() outsider
09/11/2006 08:43 | I've been busy topping up on my other cheap tech stock, BRST. Might add a few SIN via my SIPP if there's a bit of drift over next couple of months. Outsider- sorry to see what happened on DGP. | ![]() wiganer
