10/10/2006 10:01 | Looks like the tips are biting. | spaceparallax
09/10/2006 22:00 | IC: "supplying 80 internet terminals a month in the UK and Germany as well as wiring 10 hotels a month with wireless networking." sounds like another 1,000 odd internet terminals to come on stream annually & 120 hotels, which will mean a significant five figure increase in room numbers I imagine. | outsider
09/10/2006 19:03 | Hope it comes for you, as I'm long term anyway, but fundamentals suggest to me, coupled with further interest after IC have kind of endorsed SYP figures, that this might not pull back....not all IC tips perform the same....The yield might back the shareprice too. | outsider
09/10/2006 18:51 | I'll wait for the inevitable pullback after an IC tip. | philjeans
09/10/2006 18:39 | Good to see a rise on the back of well above average volume (900,000+ traded last two trading days) usually augers well. | outsider
09/10/2006 16:01 | I can't paste it here, but you have to remember SYP have been bitten by Spectrum not meeting there expectations before, for instance the ATM's were supposed to be 150 by now, but they didn't expect planning permision restrictions. So SeyP are (I believe) pretty cautious now with their numbers, In fact I think the 5.9p eps will be beaten. Also remember Germany will probably be turned around, a £93,000 profit would be a £186,000 turnaround & they have the internet growth to come. Ring the CEO, he's quite cordial & talks to investors, if you wish for any points to be cleared up, as long as he's able to, (within FSA rules) he'll answer your questions. | outsider
09/10/2006 15:57 | Outsider - cheers. Yes, I noticed the slewing of admin charges into H2 over both years' figures that I looked at, although I'm not convinced that SIN can bounce back to circa 3p earnings per half, even with a lack of any amortisation charges helping out. Are you able to paste the share price note here, as I'd be interested to see some breakdown of how they achieve their numbers? All IMHO, Rgds dell | dell314
09/10/2006 15:37 | Yes, there misleading I think you'll find. All the charges have been thrown in, in the second half, also costs drastically reduced, closure of London Office etc. Because payphone revenue was down 20% at interims (although only down 6% overall because of Advertising, microcells, ATMs etc) & yet only down 17%* over the whole year....not including the positive effect of Advertising microcells ATM's etc. * From broker note: The company's core payphones business continues to see decline. Spectrum operated an average of just over 9,000 payphones in the UK and Germany last year. These units experienced a 17% decline in average revenue over the period. | outsider
09/10/2006 15:34 | Have either of you got additional detail from the share price note, as it looks a bit hard to believe based on SIN's H2 performance, IMHO? I've whacked SIN's results figures in a spreadsheet and they appear to only have retained earnings per share of 0.14p in H2 cf 3.58p in their first half. Even if you add back the £250k alleged exceptionals and amortisation(to account for no charge under IFRS), it's still difficult to see how Seymour's figures are achievable, unless H2 was a major anomoly and not an indication of recent performance. All IMHO, DYOR etc. Rgds dell | dell314
09/10/2006 15:24 | All over the place Outsider, from Japan down to NZ, and from Taiwan across to the M.E. The Thai thread offers some good banter from time to time, and having been visiting Thailand for many a year, its always an Amazing place :) | papalpower

09/10/2006 15:07 | up 5p and still cheap. | outsider
09/10/2006 11:00 | From Investors Chronicle: Spectrum is switching between two quite different telecom businesses. On the one hand, it operates over 9,000 payphones (over half of which are in London) whose revenue is rapidly diminishing. On the other hand, income from internet terminals and wireless internet links in hotels and airports is rapidly increasing. So in 2005-06, profits from payphones more than halved to £749,000, while income from internet terminals jumped from £211,000 to £511,000. And these trends will continue as the company is spending no working capital on the payphones, but over £2m this year supplying 80 internet terminals a month in the UK and Germany as well as wiring 10 hotels a month with wireless networking. To date 300 hotels have been wired including Travelodge and Premier Travel Inns, covering 30,000 rooms. Before goodwill amortisation and one-off costs, last year's profits were little changed at £2m. If there's no goodwill charge this year, brokers think that profits could rise to £2.5m on sales modestly higher at £18.4m. But in place of a nil-rate tax charge (and a £734,000 deferred tax credit in 2004-05) there could be a 20 per cent tax charge. So broker Seymour Pierce is only looking for earnings of 5.9p a share and a little-changed dividend. BUY. | outsider
07/10/2006 13:00 | I actually place some credibility on these forecasts as share price have been 'bitten' before by Spectrum expecatations & tend to be quite cautious with their broker notes now. | outsider
07/10/2006 12:32 | Latest Broker note reports company saw a 32% uplift in advertising revenue from street sites. New forecasts for 2008 expect £2.8m on £20m turnover. | outsider
