Probably due to Buffett buying 1.3% of Barrick Gold, having previously eschewed gold...

Barrick, my favourite candidate to buy SOLG...

This is ridiculous...

If you buy GPM you pay 71p...

If you buy GPSS you pay 19p plus 46p in November...equals 65p...

Where else can you get a 8.5% discount to buy shares in the market...while being able to apply the capital elsewhere for 3 months?

Arbitrage rules OK...

We only have one geoligist on this BB .

NM thinks it will be better than Alpala if that helps .. just bought a few more at 26.05 as i think we might get back into the 30,s soon .

Looking through some of the early Alpala Rock saw samples and comparing them to Porvenir is quite interesting. From page 113 of the Alpala PEA, 4 rock-saw samples were highlighted with Au from 0.21 g/t to 1.16 g/t and Cu from 0.17% to 0.59%.

The early rock-saw sampling for Porvenir had Au from 0.28 g/t to 1.4 g/t and Cu from 0.14% to 2.3% (source:

I don't know whether these results are directly comparable, perhaps one of our geoligists could comment? If they are, it suggests that Porvenir could be a richer mineral resource than Alpala as well as being significantly larger. Happy to hear views?

Article on Barrick/Buffet and tweeted by Solgold SOLG $SOLG $SOLG.L $CGP #cascabel #ecuador.

"...GIANT WITH DEPOSITS IN ECUADOR
SolGold is already a different caliber, as the company has explored around ten percent of the world's newly discovered gold in the past ten years. The market value of SolGold is CAD 836.6 million - with ample upside potential as the company has defined a copper-gold deposit in Ecuador since 2012 with 21.7 million ounces of gold, 9.9 million tonnes of copper and 92.2 million ounces of silver at the Alpala Project. A total of 13 projects have now been identified and SolGold intends to move forward rapidly with the exploration plan developed at Alpala to advance the other regional projects.

As the top dog, SolGold is also the only company in the world with a pipeline of opportunities with the same geology, regulatory, tax and social environment. Given that the company's market value is still less than CAD 1 billion and that there are numerous projects in the pipeline, the value of SolGold in a take-over would be significantly higher."

Surely Warren's recent move will start to turn others? Albeit it's more of a sector awareness and not SOLG specifically.Has to trickle down to us at some point.

No amount of presenting or exposure will help share price.
Credibility is the issue. No doubt at all as to assets we hold.
Take over? NM taking SOLG to production?
These are the issues holding price back.IMHO

It does say opening presentation, but that never stops you from getting a pitch in there.Certainly adding the exposure SOLG needs. Well played.

I bet those hundreds of people who have been working for Solg for several years now, think mining is good for Ecuador. This would seem to be somebody with personal ambitions, and doesn't care who he uses up in the pursuit of those ambitions.

A lengthy anti-mining article by Alberto Acosta which references many of the explorers/miners in the country including SOLG $SOLG $SOLG.L $CGP #cascabel #ecuador. I have noted auther is getting more coverage on the web - he is an economist, activist and former president of the Constituent Assembly of Ecuador (which in its few years agreed the consitution of the country so he is well known).

"...Mega-mining a bad business for Ecuador"

You could be right but NM does want to be his own boss, free to choose the way forward with partners of his choosing on his terms.

PS Maybe he just didn`t want to show any special favours to any major to leave the field open.

I would have thought, whatever the terms (they can't be that much different) the advantage to NM of having a friendly Newcrest would outweigh any cost. After all, Newcrest wins or loses either way, via the deal,or via its equity stake in Solg

Maybe that was attempted and they offered less attractive terms unacceptable to NM hence the Franco deal, Newcrest withdrawing the director etc.

If I were Newcrest (who despite appearances I think would want to keep a stake) I would suggest to Nick cancelling the FNV deal and replace with one from Newcrest (a la Newcrest's streaming deal with Fruta del Norte) - otherwise will side with Cornerstone.
