Impressed with the MRE, particularly with the fact that 45% of the contained metal - 5.2 Mt of copper and 12.3 Moz of gold - is in the indicated category. At $1,300 gold, my BOE calculation gives a contained metal value of over $50 billion for starters.

So we now have a fundamental underpinning for the market cap of Solg with regular updates promised. Obviously NM wants to get to the PFS stage as soon as possible. Also interested to see the prominence given under the heading "Further Information" to the financial obligations of Cornerstone to repay Solgold for its 15% share of all the expenses or effectively forfeit its share of the equity in ENSA.

NM is going into the new year in a very determined frame of mind which is good news for us shareholders.

ODR, I'm just going to lie back and think of Ecuador :¬) This is just the start, now we have to worry that we don't get taken out too cheaply. I seriously want £2,50p a share (£5 billion?) as a starting offer for the whole of Solg.

Ok back of the envelope stuff. Based on MRE today only (which is 'just the tip of the iceberg'), I've estimated market cap should be 4.12 times the current market cap (based on copper value alone). I may be completely wrong but this is my estimate!@5.2Mt Cu and today's current price of 3.25 USD/lb then that's estimated value of $37bn. Let's say a major payed approx 5% of that then estimate if $1.8bnUsing the indicated values:-Then value of $28bn and at 5% then that's $1.4bn. This is just the copper! Share price should be 3-4x current based on MRE!Hope my maths is correct!! Anyone come up with similar figures?

I've calculated based on CuEq and indicated values a total value (copper only) of $24billion (see previous post) I haven't applied a percentage on this for extraction costs this is in the ground indicated value. Based on this can anyone estimate share price ?

So the estimate is out and they have 120m tonnes of decent grade and a lot more low grade, given this is underground mining I am sure only the high grade will be economic to mine, what we really need now are cost estimates of what it will cost to dig this stuff out the ground, I am still on the sidelines that they can make a decent irr on this underground project..

At some point the MRE will appear, but this is the third time a heralded event has failed to happen on schedule, and considering the length of experience of the management looks rather poor. But now they're late they might as well wait another week if it means better news, as the damage is already done.

As the year rolls on there will be more new finds from magnetic surveys and progress reports from drilling will be a regular news item. So there should be a steady flow of news.

If you are a potential predator then it must be plain that the longer you leave it to pounce, then the more it is going to cost you.

lefrene,

When I looked at the Aus prospects I thought the grades and tonnages are too low to attract a buyer/JV partner at $1300 gold. That said I do agree that Solg is very cheap. Most of my other metals stocks are very cheap too, particularly the silver ones.

Market sentiment towards commodities is still dire and has been for some years. FWIW, I think this will change in 2018 and Solg will benefit greatly. My guess is that if Solg had announced the "world class" Cascabel drill results in the middle of a strong commodity bull market, its market cap would be at least three times as high as it is today.

Aguinaga appears rather larger than I thought.

Website worth a look once in a while.

Just one part of one tenement out of 77 tenements, plus Aus and the Solomon islands. Why is this company so cheap relative to the massive resources it controls?

Nice year end finish at least

Happy New Year to all SOLG'ers and of course the prosperous bit should take care of itself here.

BETTER!! BETTER!! Huh, I think a flounce around the kitchen table is in order!

Good luck gersemi, £12k is still quite a useful bit of money even these days, so good luck with whatever is BETTER than Solg. :¬)

Caught me there alwaysevolving :¬)

onedb1, none too sure that I'm "right", the persons that's 'right' is the one with the chequebook who steps up and buys either a proved-up tenement or the whole thing. I just want the cheque to have enough room for at least ten noughts :¬)

It is going to take time though. That MRE when it arrives is just the beginning of the beginning.
