yes.

Looks like the MM's are marching them up to lure in punters? Usual pulling the rug circa 3pm?

Does a purchase of SOLG shares now attract stamp duty?

jovi1, If someone bid for it, the staff don't all leave and, the cash in hand doesn't leave either. The buyer gets one project that is about a year away from a possible start of mine construction (Alapala), and another possible quick start with Aguinaga. The buyer also gets those expertly chosen tenements 70+ of them, in which there is a high probability of finding other Cascabel size sites. The people making those sort of 'buy or not to buy' decisions will all be employees in major mining companies so they are going to be cautious, although a maverick Chinese buyer might just come along? The MRE when it appears (I think it will be late) might be enough to nudge potential predators into making a play. As always time will tell.

BHP have already shown an interest. For them to do so at such an early stage says it all IMO. This is one to buy and hold for the mid to long term. NM is no fool & he won't be letting this go for a song.

the reasons why we will not get a 50p offer I think are:
MW are happier to provide cash for extra shares as the cash is spend in that project and not in dividend or in any case given to shareholder.
if they buy at 50p they will have to spend a lot more cash to continue the work, this can change if another party shows interest
in any cash BOD would not accept 50p anyway
this required some time to come good but hopefully it will soon especially if the grade start to improve in the new area and or become closer to the surface
good luck

I think the market recognises that there is a lot of copper there, and that it is in not too difficult a place to begin extraction, however you can have all the copper in the world but it ain't worth much until you can sell it. Either by doing a deal with somebody else who has the clout to dig it up, or raising cash to do it yourself. Solg is sat on so much copper that there must be interested parties wanting to talk, or at current valuations just walk in and buy the whole thing for 50p a share! Your own volume supply of copper for the next 200 years might be an attractive proposition to the big players.

Lefrene,

Seems sensilble to me to wait, though these prices are very tempting. Would not surprise me if some of the punters who might have bought in here have jumped on the bitcoin bandwagon.

What we need to get 2018 off to good start is an MRE of one billion tons of ore inferred, a set of strong drilling results at Cascabel that have not gone into the MRE but will go into the first upgrade of the MRE, and further evidence that exploration work on the new regional prospects is rapidly making progress.

ODR, I'm considering getting more, but I'm going to wait at least until that MRE is out, which I suspect will be late. This company is sat on the rights to immense amounts of copper, a really useful metal, the value will come through in due course.

ive discovered another 50 bagger..if you look at my research on Inspirit Energy INSP the takeover thread you will see the research is rock solid...i believe Centrica will buy them out for £50m plus...they bought out a similar firm for £145m a few years ago and this bioler technology is far superior..ive done all the hard work for you...price is 0.1p and market cap about £1m...and guess what Centrica announced today a new joint venture company with a norwegian firm...the name Spirit Energy!

indeed Lefrene ... again I suppose we have to trust NM who has more skin in the game than all of us put together ... but tough at the moment

It does rather seem that the "bought" deal was in fact, a banksters 'sale in advance of buying deal'? The price action suggests that the banksters have long gone and that stock they got at 25p was pre-sold to others. NM has his cash to drill more holes and faster in the jungle, lord knows what Newcrest think of things.

I doubt many imagined they would be able to buy at the same price as the banksters rougepierre. I'm not sure whom it is that we are waiting to blink, but it feels like the proverbial Mexican stand off.

lefrene, re your 11484, assuming the MRE may already be in the share price.

That presupposes there is general agreement/understanding on what the MRE will reveal. In a previous post I now realise I got a decimal point in the wrong place and miscalculated by a factor of ten! Said I'd be happy with one million tons of contained metal rather than the 10 million tons you mention, which you get from one billion tons of ore grading at 1% cu equivalent.

10 million tons is an enormous amount - for example, page 8 of the November 2017 Solg presentation shows that First Quantum's huge Cobre Panama copper mine has 3.27 billion tons of ore at 0.36% Cu.

So an MRE of one billion tons for Solg would be pretty close to this figure in terms of contained metal. OK, the MRE will be an inferred resource, but the grade will be much better, and the regular upgrades should leave Cobre Panama trailing behind in the distance.

Hopefully the share price will be in for an upgrade too when the post MRE comparisons are made!

I don't know ODR, plainly the banksters really drove down the placing price to be absolutely certain of a profit to themselves, although of course we don't know who now holds most of those shares. Presuming that NM wants to leave the door open to the banksters in case of future requirements, I would shortly expect to see positive news to lift the price away from these levels. But then if I really knew anything I would have shorted this from 46p!!

Yes EV's are going to use rather more copper than conventional cars, but despite all the hype I suspect that it is going to be a long time before EV's are the default personal transport. In the meantime the developing world still has a long way to go in terms of catching up with the West supplying power to domestic homes, and building homes.

Read that there's 4 times more copper in EV's than combustion engine because of all the wiring

I think we can assume that the MRE is already in the price, I doubt in itself it will say anything more than we already know, ie circa 10 million tons of copper in Alpala. To me the value of the MRE is that it is official and carries credibility and might thus be able to trigger finance for some enterprise that wants to mine it. In effect a starting gun for the bean counters and money lenders. Plainly Solg has little value unless it can get money from all this copper in the ground. Solg can't mine it, so it has to find an entity that can.

I should think NM's longer term aim is to get enough money by selling projects, so that Solg can begin mining for itself, hopefully without debt. If just some of those other 70 odd tenements come good, then there might well be over 100 million tons of copper available?

Yep .. really struggling to shake it off.

There seems to be a view from a few on LSE that the MRE will disappoint and might not match expectations.

I'm wondering whether that might be right given NM in his recent interview was keen to repeat that this will grow and there will be quarterly updates.
