blackmamba. I became over-exuberant. Thought it was autumn 1999. Having beaten myself up thoroughly last night, remembered I was supposed to be a trader not just a buy, hold and count the money merchant (hence quick in and out on TWT today, keeping the profit). Went long on overlarge stakes. Had no balancing shorts in my 'portfolio'. Confession over.

How do you watch ten?! Perhaps if I just concentrated on the big numbers and igniored the small ones, I could look at more auctions.
Oh, and, thanks for introducing me to this technique at the last traders' day.

Excellent, Its only a guide line but you know where the main buyers & sellers limits are.
I watch about 10 stocks in the auction each night to establish limits and use that information to trade the next day. I do not believe there is a better indicator to the true market value of a share!

Dashed into Swansea to get a can of paint mixed at B&Q in time to get back well before close. But today it stands for Buy&Queue, so got back late enough to ensure that 15 downward s/bets remain open over the weekend. Worried? Nah. Think I might be keenly reading the premarket reports very early on Monday though..

Funny day for me with none of my stocks moving and by the time ADVFN got back on too late to get in on ones I was watching.

So flat today, down 2 pts yesterday and only up 50 pts equivalent or so for the week - hope for better times next week, but not sure much will happen till after xmas. Mkt continues to consolidate at these levels and will break decisively one way or the other. That's when the money will be made. Just need to be patient.

Often look at TWT auction and have now learnt to read its implications for the next day's trading.

Today I also looked at the ICI auction. Not sure I was able to 'read' it. The big numbers seemed to be:
100k buy at 380
200k sell at 387
256k sell at 406.25
So, does 380-406 define the range for Monday?????????

Thx all for the welcome :) Ended up still holding MONI though could have (should?)sold a couple of times. Feel reasonably confident that Monday will bear fruit, will keep an eye on how the US closes.

Maybe my 5080 view on FTSE100 was a tad optimistic. 5164 - 5176 seems a more realistic closing range now

Unfortunately, I can't trade the auction yet as have been ridiculously slow in opening my GNI account. Actually signed some of their legalistic forms today (I'm a non-private person now - so they can steal all my money if they like!).

Yes Logica, very difficult to predict. I was really lucky yesterday when I took 20 points out of them especially as I never normally trade techs as you know but I guessed they would not drop below 650p. One thing I should have learnt by now is never to say it cant possibly drop below .......
