I think Dresdner Kleinwort see sonme upside from current levels and has upped its price target to 755p. I think there is some way to go for this one. The story is under-appreciated by the market.

I think the market is dreaming if some private equity company is going to come around and buy this up. Here's a bunch from brokers - looks like up to 700p is possible

UBS - move from Buy to Neutral 675p PT from 662p
Bernstein - raising from 560p to 580p.
Golden Sachs - up PT from 580p to 605 maintain Neutral
Merrill Lyech -Raising price target to 690p retains Buy
Casanova - Maintains In-Line

So let me get this right. UBS rate this as a BUY on 31st Jan with a target of 662p & then a mere 9 days later downgrade this to NEUTRAL with a target of 675p.

Also, like the sound of this Earnings Improvement Programme to focus on margin enhancement. Current Op margin of 20% is at the low end of industry.

I heard today that Biomet (now owned by Goldman Sachs) are about to make a bid for Smith and Nephew!!!!

seems to be very steady rises with this one , bit of speculation prechristmas about the predator becoming the prey, putting all that together , possible corporate activity ??

if an offer comes in it will not be less than the price now,(530) and could be 10/20% more (50/100 points more)
I am keeping a close eye on it and will only sell if it is stated that no offer is to be made.

- Looks like a discounted rights issue is going to get tabled. Normally this a minimum of 20% off.
