09/12/2010 09:22 | Private Eguity firm apparently according to gigital look yesterday. I bought the day before the laST results as i think this stock should be on forward p/e of around 15, c720p so if it comes back to around 600p i think i will double up. | philo124
09/12/2010 09:14 | may thanks , been expecting a bid for these forever it seems , with JJ buying Curacell , I think it has put the sector back under the spotlight | scrapman
09/12/2010 09:03 | My broker told me yesterday pm, US company, The market re ignited on M&A in the first place; cheap money, some strong corporate balance sheets; i think most Ftse companies are poss takeover targets, but hey, looks like SN were ubdervalued anyway. | philo124

08/12/2010 14:57 | this has a "biddy" feel to it , based on the steady trade activity and the disparity from normal trading , IMHO, Spob , what level would you think a bid would be at , seems crazy any buyer wasn't on the seen at nearer a fiver | scrapman
08/12/2010 10:51 | London has opened lower as a bullish mood in the US following a two-year extension to tax cuts faded by the close last night. Smith & Nephew is the best performer by some distance, while Royal Dutch Shell is also higher after an upgrade to equal-weight from underweight from Morgan Stanley. | ib1905
08/12/2010 10:13 | any other news around to get so much action on these ? | scrapman
08/12/2010 08:29 | not so boring today , more talk of healthcare sector activity after the JJ deal today I suppose | scrapman
05/11/2010 09:20 | These seem OK results and will help to propel Smith and Nephew over the 600p again after a snall derating over the summer. IMO Its quite a boring stock chugging out single digit growth but not without merit (world class products with an increasing global footprint. SN has been steadily derated in the noughties and is now decent value and cheaper than US competitors. | gopher
05/11/2010 08:23 | Mmm, good Buy? | philo124

19/10/2010 14:02 | More good news - out today U.S. Court invalidates KCI NPWT patents Full range of Smith & Nephew NPWT products continues to be available in U.S. Late yesterday, the U.S. District Court entered a favorable judgment in the patent litigation brought by KCI relating to the Smith & Nephew RENASYS-F (Foam) dressing kit. The Court ruled that U.S. patents licensed to KCI, are invalid due to obviousness. As a result of this ruling, the RENASYS-F (Foam) dressing kit will continue to be fully available in the United States. This judgment overturns a previous jury verdict from March 10, 2010. "We are pleased with the Court's judgment that KCI's patents are indeed invalid, which re-affirms our belief that our NPWT offering does not infringe any valid patents," said Robin Carlstein, Senior Vice President, Advanced Wound Devices. "We look forward to continuing to compete in the dynamic NPWT market, providing clinicians and patients - the ultimate beneficiaries of this decision - with our wide and growing range of treatment options." This judgment is consistent with court decisions invalidating KCI's related patents in the United Kingdom and Germany. The RENASYS system enables clinicians to tailor NPWT to meet unique needs of patients and the specific requirements of their wounds, with clear improvements in patient comfort, ease of use and cost-effectiveness. | toposstiger

19/10/2010 08:50 | I found this on another thread, does anyone know any more detail on this ? What is bhr ? I knew corin shares would crash over last few years , as i knew the metal on metal market would implode. There is a lot of bad news to come out in next 6 months on metal on metal , corin will be vulnerable to this. Smith and Nephew with bhr should be ok as there hip is the best resurfacing, but corins results for cormet are really poor in comparison. | betman |
