25/5/2007 08:50 | Blimey, how the mighty fall. Really thought SMC would grow and grow ad infinitum. Commiserations to all here. | bigbigdave
25/5/2007 08:49 | the company is £16m in debt. with this bombshell, they could well be in breach of their banking covenants. Could well go bust. | cyberpost

25/5/2007 08:47 | fell lucky (in a way) - forgot I put a stop loss on this at 60p a month or so a go. If only I'd moved it up when the price was rising. | anusol

25/5/2007 08:46 | Even at this price its PE is 40-what a disaster. | gordon brown

25/5/2007 08:43 | Masurenguy: Re: "This review has yet to be fully studied by the Board and this announcement is being made in order to provide a preliminary update to the market. The review will be analysed over the next few days and will be discussed at next Wednesday's board meeting after which action is anticipated on the cost base and operational structure of the Group." ...but this statement looks decidedly ominous to me as it has the same overtones as their last attempts to gloss over the seriousness of the problem. If anyone is tempted to catch this falling knife, look at the RNS's thru the last debacle. They were ill-informing, misleading, half-truths and some. The sililarity is striking here and leads me to believe that this is the start of another utter rout! For me - took my 3rd loss and my cards are on the table. I'm not shorting, I'm out of this stock, period! | kneath
25/5/2007 08:41 | rescue rights issue will be required, worthless company now this. | bigbobjoylove
25/5/2007 08:41 | Or maybe it's not as bad as the price is suggesting and an opportunity to get them dirt cheap. | entini
25/5/2007 08:37 | Must be a hummdinger of a bad report to rush out a trading statement before they even read it. | siwel100
25/5/2007 08:34 | Unfortunately this seems to be following the maxim that profit warningscome in 3's ! | masurenguy
25/5/2007 08:34 | Just sold - 3rd losss in excess of £1500 on this tripe! Out, off the screen, off the watchlist! Never again! Profit warnings don't come in 3's with SMC - they just continually stream through! Will spend on something else! | kneath
25/5/2007 08:34 | possibly been oversold now though - there is some positive in the statement isn't there? it says 'profit' still, so I assume they aren't making losses. I think that as long as the report is implemented, then may be long term life in these basards. | anusol
25/5/2007 08:30 | no wonder there was no director buying - signs were there and there was no material rise in the share price of recent. that said, this is shocking - daylight robbery stuff imo | upside potential
