One barrel (159 litres) of OPEC crude stood at 44.48 dollars Monday, up from 42.56 dollars at the end of last week, the cartel reported Tuesday. The Vienna-based organization calculates an average price based on 13 important brands produced by its members. | peterlowen

24/11/2008 12:25 | Now probably most of us on this board think this share is undervalued. However in these markets it doesn't take much volume of selling to send it plunging. Who is still doing the selling? Fido seemed to have finished so the re-tracement Friday was likely to have been PI driven. I did not sell at 120 on Friday but sort of regretted my decision as clearly I could have bought back in this morning. It would be interesting to know which of us did do the apparently smart thing and trade, and also to know roughly how much of this is PI activity from this board. It does occur to me that if only we could resist selling it might start to gently climb back again. What a ridiculous notion ! | a3477681
24/11/2008 10:37 | I only had a few stocks in blue this morning, this was one. Unfortunately in TMAN so not a good day. I think with citigroup news and more bail outs needed etc.. that dow and stocks will continue to get hammered this week. Unfortunately I am not aware of any stocks that will be immune to it otherwise would be buying lots of it. Still think this could also go lower. Keep holding if already in though as long term great share. | spurberry
23/11/2008 17:38 | napolean 'My quandary is whether the rest of the situation is worth backing...' Do you refer to the Russian Political scene or the capital makeup ? Anybody going to the AGM / EGM I understand it will be on the 18th Dec? I intend going. | a3477681
23/11/2008 07:12 | Crazy, crazy market. I don't doubt SBE's potential, & IMHO they'll survive this. Also, if a bid appeared, Shell could quite easialy respond. Russia is as corrupt as the US & primitive in a different way, but financially too dependent on the West to do something realy stupid. Besides, what better way to persuade us to go nuclear than their recent behaviour? That's why EDF got the green light on BNE. Watch that space! Back to SBE; I've held in various degrees since 2003 & it's back to square 1! The company has transformed itself in that time & is getting better & better, what with production records & the refining/retail operation. Added to that is a favourable exchange rate variation for all things in £Sterling... The hotel thing was a lesser evil than millions more shares being dumped on the market! My quandary is whether the rest of the situation is worth backing... | napoleon 14th
21/11/2008 17:51 | Leeson, good week for me here too! Know a guy who took out a 500k loan to buy these at 8 squid a year or so back. Not sure if he offloaded them. | hermana

21/11/2008 16:42 | Spur, do you understand my post ? SBE is cheaper than UEN, with out bank risk ! | topcar
21/11/2008 16:12 | surfer . 61p | leeson31
21/11/2008 16:12 | topcar UEN is priced where it is due to market/bank talks etc.. and is priced near to bankruptcy. If bank gives go ahead it will rise to a more reasonable level where that is is anyones guess. SBE is not priced here because of loans/bank talks. Dont get me wrong long term SBE and UEN (touch wood) will be much higher than today but depends very much on how long the economy carries on like it is. | spurberry
21/11/2008 16:07 | Spur Problem is if one waits for several days of rises then you pay more. But you are probably right. I noticed the buying was very strong down at 70. | a3477681
21/11/2008 15:54 | Well spur if SBE fails, so will our holding in UEN, because par for par SBE is cheaper ! | topcar
21/11/2008 15:51 | with the markets the way they are and with sellers selling into the highs. This could see the lows of yesterday agin next week. Ftse and Dow carry on looking very weak and untill we see several days of rises all stocks will continue to be unnervy. Good luck all but dont think this will rush back to £2 mark or above any time soon! | spurberry
21/11/2008 15:47 | Fidelity have finished as far as I understand but I suppose there could be other sellers. It is still dirt cheap by any normal standards. It spiked up to 120 and really should make up to the 200s in the medium term. Long term I hope for much more especially when news comes from the Koltogorsky exploration. I have transfered more funds to take advantage next week so I am pleased its dropped back | a3477681
21/11/2008 15:26 | surfer, i missed it by about 1p - my purchase was 62.88, i think some lucky punters paid 61/61.5p - yes im feeling smug, but not that smug i didnt buy enough. | davidwilkin
21/11/2008 14:57 | looks like i made an error by not buying this morning! is it still worth buying now or will the seller likely make this drop again next week?? i've only recently started taking at interest in SBE... are there any other concerns for the company apart from the seller? What are current production costs? many thanks 1nf | 1nf3rn0

21/11/2008 12:37 | From FT.com today. "Sibir Energy , the Russia-focused oil company, sustained further losses. Down almost 40 per cent on Wednesday, its shares fell a further 22 per cent to 75½p. The talk in the market was that a Russian investor, who had been betting on a takeover bid, had been forced to liquidate his position." | ammons
21/11/2008 11:46 | rising well now. | leeson31 |
