The recent results of other high st retailers suggest we should expect the same here. I'm hearing that online sales continue to go gangbusters.

The way i see it, the more stores that convert to hybrid stores (Selling branded products) the better. They sell far higher value shoes so surely the like-for like sales will be higher. We shall see.

They already said a last year that the small amount of hybrid stores, online and big box stores account for over half of profits. Since then, online ha increased and the amount of hybrid stores is far higher than the 10 or so at the time.

I know they have converted a load of standard stores to hybrids already.

A great set of results for CardFactory (CARD) today. The high street and online are doing very well for budget retailers.

I'm out. Likely that this has much further to go but I've eyed up some other opportunities I want to explore / that may have a bit more pricing power over the next 36 months. GLA.

Trading must be good at CARD as refinancing has been successfully completed more favourably than previously with conditions removed. Bodes well for trading at SHOE with both being discount high-street retailers with growing online sales.

10 year gilt yields now approaching 2% - massive moves which should translate to another few million worth of gains on the pension schemes.

From the Tesco prelims today. Hopefully a read across in to SHOE.

Big rise in gilt yields should prove very helpful for the pension situation. The last report noted a significant reduction in pension liabilities due to rise in gilt yields. Well, since October they've continued to shoot up with 10 year yields increasing from 1% to 1.7% today - these are big moves that should translate to several million gains on the pension schemes.

Buybacks are often approved without actually happening - companies like to get them agreed just in case.

Heng Heng I would expect the CEO to sell some of his shres to keep his holding below 30%.

Question - given a share buy back programme (10% or 5m shares) has recently been approved, when it commences will it not trigger an automatic bid for the company given the CEO already owns a 29.9% stake? and what price would that occur at given his last acquisition was at 80p? Any ideas on this subject matter are welcomed

..from last year...

Shoe Zone this morning issued a further trading update. Further to the Full Year Trading Update announced on 13 October 2021, reported profit before tax is now expected to be in the range of £9.0m to £10.0m for the 52 weeks to 2 October 2021. Underlying trading has been better than expected and the Company has concluded that it will not be required to recognise approximately £1.5m of one off additional pension contributions within its income statement. The business is rebounding from Covid shutdowns to more or less pre-Covid levels, the share price is still lagging the business by a long way. Valuation is reasonably attractive accordingly. There looks to be substantial upside potential here. BUY....
