The market is so corrupt and manipulated now by short sellers. I thought 3700-3800p was the bottom so who knows? A drop from 4400p to 3600p in 2 weeks for a large FTSE100 company on the back of an upgrade in EPS, reduction in debt and no profit warning is simply staggering and defies all logic. If the Evening Standard article from July was accurate the company should seriously consider any offers in the 5000p-6000p range because for some reason unknown to us PI's a US hedge fund seems intent on shorting and attacking Shire.

RSI in the US Nasdaq 1 year now down at 18.
Very very low and oversold for such a large company.

The US equity market has been fairly fragile over the last couple of weeks and some consider we're reaching an inflection point which might be calling the end of the sustained bull run.Even the likes of Amazon,Apple etc have been weakening of late,Amazon in particular being well off recent highs. There's money coming off the table and large caps are bearing the brunt......that said, the fall in Shire is obviously quite disproportionate.I'm not buying more til I see a meaningful turn,if that means missing the first 5% of an upswing,so be it.

Getting a bit tired of calculating how low the P/E is here now but at these prices we are at a P/E of approx 9.3

The market doesn't seem to care...
Time to make an offer if you have the money to buy this company.

The CEO only last month told the FT he was fed up with the market 'undervaluing' the company. This was when the share price was 4300p or so.

Wonder what he thinks now after another 16% has been knocked off?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought there were question marks over eps growth for Glaxo and AstraZeneca but Shire was in the fast lane.Yes,it reeks of a concerted shorting campaign by US hedge funds.I suspect this news about the CFO leaving has been doing the rounds recently and that might have partly aided the shorter's cause.Yet,he's staying til the end of the year and remains on the executive Commitee,it all seems pretty run of the mill.

Clear to me that some hedge funds in the US are shorting this. Told the company and regulators to look into it.

It's dips like this that can end up making people a lot of money though. I would be surprised to see this under £36. It's a bargain right now unless there is something really bad we don't know about. But if that was the case would it not have been covered in the recent investor call?

CFO leaving is not significant news, everyone knows it is Flemming Ornskov who pulls all the strings at Shire.

If it does go to £35 I'll be selling other investments to transfer into this. Not seen anything to justify this trashing. I think the Americans are reducing anything and everything across the board right now.

Sure price is very low but change in CFO = bid?
