With the cheap pound Shire look good value, £55 is fair value.

They'd also be taking on all of shire's debt, so they'd be paying a lot more than that

This is such BS.

Rumours of approach, rns, rumours of indicative offer.

Why not just make the $@#%ing offer already?

We at the FT, and I'm sure all of our peers, have been chasing a quite strong rumour that Takeda's offered ballpark £46.50 per share in cash and equity.

Takeda bid to succeed , the offer price should be about £45 .Another 20% increase in today's share price.if offer does not come, in few month share price should be around £40 because company doing very well on its own.

Scfc1, I agree with you on one point regarding taks approach - it still doesn't make any sense. I'm surprised their share price hasn't tanked further. As for shire, surely you would just ignore someone window shopping and only apply market rules until a formal bid has been initiated. It's hard to believe both bods weren't already in cahoots.....hmmmmm

mbmiah, I think we will need to agree to disagree on this one but IMO Takeda have demonstrated how not to approach a potential M&A deal...I strongly suspect any other bidder (if there is one) will not make the same mistake.

There really is no rush to make a move now and the idea it may scupper a lowball deal is not logical. I would agree that the BOD will have a price in mind so it may end up being hostile but at this price I simply can’t see a Takeda deal happening (on affordability grounds alone) but we are all guessing. If there's a 4% drop tomorrow then it would suggest we are being played

I agree that if Takeda are the only kid in town, then the potential upside is less than the downside in the S-T at least. ATB, Scfc

scfc1, if a company does really want to purchase shire, then it doesn't make any sense to wait....as they don't know takeda's intentions at this point. The bod aren't going to fall for the "higher than yesterday's share price " game.....this is ftse100. As far as logic is concerned, well this is the stock market old boy - it would be easy to make money if it were mathematical. AIMO
