I sold all my shares into the rise this afternoon. I fell that if a bid does come the share price may only move another 5%. If there is no bid in the short term it will drop 20% and will present an amazing entry. I think they will make a bid but could be structured more like a merger based on their smaller market cap.

if there is another bidder, they must be talking to their main share holders, banks, brokers ( not like Takeda went public first!) and that is where the leak comes impacting share prices. So today's rise may be due to leak of another bidder joining in. Even if the bidder waits until after 25th, leak may not!! I agree more likely if there is a bidder , the bid more likely formally put to SHP bords after Takeda makes his intension clear. Let's see what happens to share price next few days.

Mbmiah, that seems illogical. Why would any new potential bidder want (or need) to bid when the share price is c£37.50+, a large price rise that is a direct result of the Takeda announcement. There is no logical reason to bid now. They can scupper an actual lowball bid at anytime if they wanted.

If the bid is low, they can respond thereafter. If there is no bid at all, they could bid later and would have a much stronger hand as the only bidder and with the price lower as well. ATB, Scfc

A bid would scupper takedas approach if it were a lowly chancers offer.

I would be very surprised to see any other bid before the Takeda announcement, as required by 25/4. Why would they now, less than a week before the deadline?

Say Takeda bid £Xbn then any other bidders can compare this to their own valuation and react accordingly...or alternatively, Takeda decide to walk away and then inevitably the share price falls and they will be in a better negotiating position. I can’t see any scenario why anyone would want to bid now. ATB, Scfc

Two consecutive days share price dropped when USA market opened few days ago. Trend reversed now and Last two days share price moving higher after 15:00. Takeda CEO is reported visiting USA this week may be causing it or there is another bidder getting ready to join in. Hopefully share price will be £40 before any bidding starts. Big volume today almost twice the average daily trades and share price moves higher. That is good

Agreed wouldn't be surprised to read tomorrow that another bidder is on the scene and another bid comes in from one of the big players.

Nothing to back this up apart from Roche and Shire have a product going head to head that have about $7billion of sales I believe. I wouldn't be surprised to see other bidders.

I too unfortunately expect to find Takeda are on another planet with their thinking on value and the bid will be out of this world in the wrong direction. The optimist in me hopes that some plan involving a spin off of the NBU combined with a sensible bid from Takeda in the mid to high 40s is put to shareholders. Even better would be an approach from a larger player. Not entirely unlikely given the appetite this year for rare disease specialists, and Shire is the daddy in rare disease.

Soon we will find out if Takeda are all mouth and no trousers.

It certainly looks like smart money is positioning for a bid! They new before the bid was disclosed too originally forcing the company to put out an announcement. Expecting an offer announced imminently based on this share price movement

I am not sure that is the cause as it happened two hours later when the GBP rate came back stronger. As always we will be last to know but encouraged that a deal will come.
