Noticed on Level 2 some big tranches of shares changing hands yesterday followed by uplift in early trade today on low volume. Could just be institutions rehashing their positions or maybe some other activity to follow.

Purchased for first time today. Good long term prospects in the right area of business. Seem to be well run indeed.

Prospectus sets out limitations of lock up arrangements as first anniversary of admission, ie 15 March. However with growth as it is will the Directors sell and if so would it have any effect. I doubt both imho.

Thanks for pointing out the Sunday Mail tip. I was debating whether to sell, but the share price has held up well and looks to be ready for another move up towards 350p. This tip might help.

johnv, revenues and profits in businesses with long contracts are basically determined by the accounting - how much revenue do you recognise and when? However, cash in the bank is a solid number (fraud apart) and so a good check on how a business is really doing. Cashflow statements can be quite obscure and you need to see what's included in the line items, but basically you want your operating cashflow to be similar to or greater than operating profit over time. There can be certain reasons why it's not (eg payment timing, big expansion in business etc.) but if op cashflow is significantly less consistently, then the risks in investing in that company are increased.

Take the last 3 x 6 month periods:

SWG op profit 5,763 4,643 7,141
SWG op cashflow 5,488 7,141 7,503

SMC op profit 1,297 1,981 1,991
SMC op cashflow 286 (427) (635)

Can you see why it was increasingly likely the SMC accounting for revenues was too aggressive? No such worries with SWG, hence little in common.

wjccghcc,

some of us are not accountants, so could you give a quick comparsion between swg & smc cashflows if poss. or where I should look. cheers

SMC are a buy & build architecture practice. Can't see why that has anything to do with SWG. If you're worried, I suggest you compare the cashflow generated from operations for SWG and SMC - some of us saw the SMC debacle coming and steered well clear.
