Snippet from the MoS today:

'The Government plans to promote a multi-billion pound industry converting waste into energy that within ten years could provide four per cent of the country's energy needs.

The planed anaerobic digestion (AD) plants, once regarded as being on the fringes of green energy movement, could supply two million homes with power.'

Could turn out to be good news for SKS seeing as they are Europe's largest waste management group and a leader in AD plant technology. And with the horrendous Lib Dem proposal (rumoured) to slash the personal CGT allowance from £10k to £2.5k, being able to house SKS in an ISA is a further plus point.

not spotted anything exciting for a few weeks
just a good long term investment for me
long term trend is solid like a tracker in some respects, but potential for buy-out is a bonus

anyone spotted anything happening here, seems to be just trading in a range 100p - 104p with little volume or direction. I guess this shre not too sensitive to the election results, more dependent on european growth ?? Is there any evidence of anyone trying a little stake building ? Its not evident to me on the volumes traded

Financial year end tomorrow. Do any of the long term holders know if Shanks normally issue an interim statement at this time or do they just wait until the official announcement in mid May? TIA

Darling yesterday also stood by the increases in land fill tax this could help as it forces more to recycle in the next few years. Chart wise it looks like it really needs to hold above 100 or it could do a La Roux (back to the 80's) :-)

hi rouge, an excellent post with some very interesting points. I agree and think its still in play and judging by RNSs so does the city takeover panel.I think this sector is ripe for consolidation with big waste recycling plants. Even without a bid this is a recovery stock as GDP starts to grow in Europe and more waste generated. On top of this legislation should drive some gains in business
