11/12/2009 12:57 | CR, your post 258, 8/12/09, would indicate that 150p should be the very minimum as there are good longer term prospects. IMHO, it would appear that the offer, if it is made, must be higher. O/T CR, note your interest in RTO, which I believe may well attract similar attention | martynm
11/12/2009 12:40 | Shanks get a paragraph in the UK-Analyst daily email. I do not think i can post it all for copywrite but these bits stand out. Charles Stanley called waste management firm Shanks Group (SKS) a "unique and well positioned asset" 150p plus price tag in response to a 135p per share offer, a "clearly justifiable valuation" "The 'buy' stance and ta rget of 172p remained unchanged. The shares rose 2.5p to 130p. | tenapen
11/12/2009 10:24 | HMS too .... its the bidding season. 135/150p Opening stances. Quite close really. Both sides are interested in a deal. If the bid fails now it will be a failure of negotiation not valuation. | skyracer
10/12/2009 19:35 | CR, it may be possitive as the share price rose to close at 130p. | tenapen
09/12/2009 22:44 | Broker upgrades coming I hear. CR | cockneyrebel
09/12/2009 22:11 | Having bought in for 62p i have cashed in all my shares.the profit was too good,if they dont get a firm offer share price could tumble below 100p.For an extra 20% i didnt want to take that chance.I was looking forward to holding these for a long time,a very good company. If it dont work out i will be back in. | silvertortoise
08/12/2009 16:54 | Seems odd to negotiate by saying this is my price... I think they might not get it | mr.oz
08/12/2009 16:04 | so there we have it big holders have come out and say come and get me and named their price 150p. Are they hoping for small bidding war? | craigends
08/12/2009 12:43 | Record date for the Divi is the 11th Dec 2009...nice one....I think this one will climb higher from here.... | 499budgie

08/12/2009 10:30 | Press comments seem to suggest SKS as a hold, and I am inclined to agree, although taking a profit or some profit is also worth considering. SKS appears to have one serious bidder, and that may be all that is required, but if you are selling anything, it is usually good to have more than one keen buyer. | w.bramley
08/12/2009 08:52 | Remember SKS are one of the ten companies invited to discuss the joint Milton Keynes/Northamptonsh | pifedayo
08/12/2009 08:17 | The thing to remember about bid target Shanks is that the company is not distressed. It recapitalised its balance sheet in May and is well placed for an economic recovery. The company is not under financial stress of any sort. Once industrial activity improves, the company should start to throw off cash. The private equity house interested in the company will understand this very well and that's why it has pounced now. Hold until the bid situation is resolved says the Telegraph. CR | cockneyrebel
07/12/2009 18:59 | ....very what, tenapen? | almosr
07/12/2009 18:34 | I read it is the US firm Carlyle are the bidder. They have bid three times already ! i do not think they will go away. I could be very WRONGE !. D'ho | tenapen
07/12/2009 15:23 | A bidder may make an offer (in this case 135p but rejected) but if the offer is a serious one they will mop up all shares on offer at below that, but may or not increase the offer. A holder of the stock may take a profit on their entire holding or part of their holding or wait to see if the offer is increased. With these offers, the danger is, if the bidder backs away for the time being, the share Price will take a tumble(panic sales), also if the price does rise and you have sold, then you regret making a hasty sale. An other consideration is, if the company accepts an offer, the cash due takes a little time. | w.bramley

07/12/2009 13:05 | It is not that long ago the share price was £2.60 £1.50 ain't dear for the company. Regards , Moneybags | moneybags
07/12/2009 12:20 | I wee lift on a drab day so far :-). Bought after hearing the SKS guy talking on Radio 4 Today show on the morning of the results. He came over very well and i will continue to hold as i got the impression from him if he says 150 is the price then he meens it, no offers. Well Done all. | tenapen
07/12/2009 11:42 | going to hold and if it drifts down add. 135 seems to be pretty much a floor as to what it's worth, even though historically they've traded a fair bit higher than that. Bit odd that the statement basically says make it 150 and it's a deal, seems to limit the chances of a counterbid above that. Or maybe it's tempting in a counterbid? Who knows, but if the bidder really wants it they'll surely run to 150 so holding for the bit extra. | alainproust |
