06/6/2024 07:52 | My wife walked into a dentists in vietnam a few months ago with no appointment, as a tooth was playing up. Before I had finished my drink in a nearby cafe she returned after inspection, saying that he said it was just a sensitive tooth, not requiring attention and that there was no charge. In two months travelling around we saw no pot holes whatsoever. Meanwhile back in the UK..... | cb7
06/6/2024 07:48 | boutyhunter - if Starmer does in fact win a huge majority that will give him enormous power. As the darling of the Labour Party I imagine one of his first acts will be to completely neutralise Rayner and Abbott. They will get the Corbyn treatment or put out to grass with impressive sounding non-jobs. He may sound like a plonker but it is what he actually does that matters - and he has done a lot to castrate the far left already. I am also wondering how long he will tolerate Miliband. | kibes
06/6/2024 07:37 | Buchan in the news today being deferred and possibly cancelled. This may bring matters to a head? Does either Labour or Conservatives really want to stop the development of 'Britain's best remaining oilfield'? They are both utter fools of course but I think common sense will prevail. And unlike Miliband Starmer is not a complete idiot. | kibes
05/6/2024 22:48 | The last Coal Powered Power Station will be decommissioned later this year. The UK uses 41% renewable Energy. The largest Generator of Electrical Power in the UK is Natural Gas powered. There is a very large Solar Farm with Battery Storage being constructed/commissi But this will be lucky to produce 50MW during January and February and of course at night it will not produce electricity. Starmer will soon realise the contribution companies like Serica make to the UK economy by both producing a reliable Gas supply and contributing Taxation. The fact that the Deputy Labour Leader left school at 16 with no qualifications and pregnant is irrelevant to this investment or the General Election in the UK. But don't let me stop you talking this investment down as the Dividend should arrive at the low. I will be taking advantage of this event. | elena saratov
05/6/2024 17:37 | That seemed so unbelievable I had to check it.. "Rayner was born and raised in Stockport, where she attended the comprehensive Avondale School. She left school aged 16 whilst pregnant and without any qualifications." Her and Starmer are like chalk and cheese, a future prime minister leading this country, surely not! Will she be shoehorned in at some point without a membership vote as Sunak was?! The choice isn't great. | bountyhunter
05/6/2024 17:30 | Rayner left school having failed to pass a single exam - to think she will serve as deputy PM is a reflection on the woeful state of this country. As for the WFT policy, well, just wait until there is a significant spike in the oil price due to a war or other geopolitical situation - suddenly energy prices for consumers will go through the roof and Starmer and Co. will raise taxes, borrow more and realise they have no control over the situation. | yasx
05/6/2024 15:58 | Just wait until Ed Milliband gets back in the Energy ministry and all the looney left wing climate nutters decide Labours Energy policy. Starmer doesn’t decide Labour policy and at the moment they haven’t got any policies so it’s pointless listening to acceptable face of Labour. Angela Rayner is the puppet master as demonstrated by the reinstatement of Corbyn’s former girlfriend Dianne Abbot. Labour are going to borrow £18.6 billion to make the UK Renewables only by 2030. It is a massive lie to suggest that is achievable. We can now on a good day run the country on renewables only but on bad days they may only be able at times to provide less than 5% of our energy and fossil fuels are necessary to keep the lights on. We will be reliant on oil and gas and in many countries coal until at least 2060. | 888icb
05/6/2024 15:26 | Added today. Comforted by buying much cheaper than recent director purchases who obviously see value here. I think the Starmer effect is depressing these to irrationally silly levels... | spawny100
05/6/2024 14:27 | Oh dear where's support? | davethehorse
05/6/2024 10:57 | Richi gave Starmer a good kicking last night but will it be enough to bring the British public to their senses and reject the socialists. Labour are still the party of Jeremy Corbyn and his left wing cronies. Starmer hasn’t got any policies because policy is controlled by the Labour Party conference which means the left wingers who still control the party. Starmer didn’t choose Corbyn disciple Angela Rayner to be his deputy, she was appointed by the Labour Conference. Starmer is there because the left wing nutters realise they are unelectable but if Labour do secure a majority and Starmer becomes PM how long will he last? He will be removed as Labour leader and replaced by Angela Rayner in short order. Apologies for the political rant but one of the few tax increases Starmer would admit to was further increasing the windfall taxes on UK Oil and Gas companies to fund Labours insane green by 2030 policies which are not remotely achievable. I have with regret sold at a loss my holding in SQZ pending the outcome of the election as a very good company will be very badly damaged by a Labour government. | 888icb

05/6/2024 09:54 | Wallywoo, Referencing 6338 - spot on. | yasx
05/6/2024 09:53 | Well, the lower it goes the more efficacious the buyback since the Co. will be able to buy those shares at a cheaper price. I welcome the lower prices since I am not overly concerned about the medium term prospects here and am increasing my position - the lower it goes the cheaper it is for me to get in. During such periods of depressed prices, the wise hold their nerve and hoover up shares in anticipation of a significant rebound down the line. What really needs to happen here at some stage to change sentiment is a decent acquisition, even if only a modest one. | yasx
05/6/2024 09:25 | Labour are delusional. This is what will likely happen. Attempts to tax oil and gas production higher will lead to sharp fall in production. Investment in renewable energy will be inefficient under public ownership, private ownership also struggling (just look at all the poor performance Investment trusts nesf, grid etc etc). Socialist politics always sounds good, just doesn't work. Never has, never will!!! These policies will lead to higher importing of oil and gas, a higher public borrowing requirement to fund inefficient public spending. Result in complete mess!! | wallywoo
05/6/2024 08:56 | There's certainly major panic going on here. I have been trading this and just picked up 14k odd shares at 163 this morning. My take is this. 14p dividend on xd date 27/6. 8.5% on my 163 price. Serica have bgt back around $2.1m of shares since the $15m buyback was announced. Still lots more to go. Production is around 10% higher than 2023 average with lots of drilling news to come. SQZ are cash rich with low costs of production. There's certainly lots of blood on the streets, but SQZ is far from being a dead duck. This will rally before xd date. Afterwards, it will be interesting battle of bulls and bears. Lots more volatility to come. Just trade it!!! | wallywoo
05/6/2024 08:52 | Labour pledge card number 4Set up Great British Energy, a publicly-owned clean power company, to cut bills for good and boost energy security, paid for by a windfall tax on oil and gas giants. | orchestralis
