carpingtris - I agree. The company has done exceptionally well to produce the performance they have. However whether the share is an investment candidate at this price is another matter. Although people are quoting the forward statement, eps next year will be well down on this year, because of the adjustments.

Reading between the lines, Senior management are being cautious re:
"The current year has started ahead of the Board's expectations and, consequently, prospects for 2010, which were previously forecast to be more difficult than in 2009, have improved and the Group's performance for 2010 is now anticipated to be broadly in line with the
2009 outcome."

I would expect Trading and Profit ahead of expectations in their next update.

This bit should help.

RCTurner2 -

Given the climate i don't think many can hold that against them.... still very profitable and goes to show what things could be like when global markets improve

There is something in the results for everyone, depending upon your point of view. Good debt figures, good cash generation and good forward statement. On the bad side the true operating profit is much lower than last year.

The market new about the reduction in debt as it was mentioned in a previous RNS

I do not see an unchanged DIVI as a problem.... in some respects it's lucky given the current climate that a DIVI can be paid at all :-) when lots of companies out there have cut or decided to not pay one at all....

Yep, the reduction in debt the market will be very happy about.

Looks good enough to me, eps flattered slightly by the pension gain and exchange movements but that's swings and roundabouts.

I like the reduction in debt and the more upbeat outlook for 2010 than previous.

I will leave others more knowledgeable to comment on the RNS. I do note the divi is unchanged.
