Dog, I thought the update was actually quite positive for aerospace, price increase probably due to market relief that SNR is still on track.

I'm still waiting (or hoping!) for the takeover by GKN. Hold both and would like to see them come together.

Anyway, SNR (and GKN) seem cheap, I'm sure there will be volatility in the run up to the brexit vote but after that I expect them to make progress.

Encouraging news on the A320neo, given the immense order book for this aircraft, it will hopefully keep SNR plenty busy.

Good set of results and solid future.

Will be interesting to see what the market thinks.

Expect 2:30+ by end of day. But what do I know.

Anyone got any thoughts on why Senior's share price has been on a consistent down trend for some time - even worse than the 2008 crisis? For years, Senior used to hold up well but not so now. Can't find much info/chat to get a better picture. Obviously, there's all the global problems re oil, China,US,Europe etc creating a negative background but nothing that explains what's happening to Senior's share price or, more to the point, why? Had thought the prospect of Iran wanting to replace its aging aircraft with 100* Airbuses would have boosted the share price but the prospect seems to have had no impact (yet). Senior doesn't seem to be a share that generates much chat on forums etc. Can't understand why.

Gross assets of the business, including the properties, are approximately $32.7m (GBP21.5m)(1) . "

FY profit forecast was for around £100m before today so the acquistion is just a small bolt on really. It's not something that significantly changes the fundamentals.

There's the warning, but clearly not as big a warning as the market was expecting so time for a relief rally.

Not enough positives in there for me to go long. Trading to only deteriorate further from here so expecting at least another warning.

Better entry points ahead.

The best way to make returns is to focus on companies that have a habit of delivering a strong performance during the Santa Claus rally.
One of these companies is Senior, which derives almost two thirds of its revenues from producing engine, structural and ducting components for the aerospace sector, and the remainder from its Flexonics division, which makes flexible parts used in the land vehicles industry.
Senior has seen its shares tumble 28pc so far this year as growth rates have slowed. However, with the shares now trading on a PE ratio of 13, they look good value. The trading update on November 19 looks like a good entry point as the shares have a track record of gaining more than 10pc in December.

Yes, looks like the market is pricing in some form of major deterioration in trading.

Quality company this and now trading on a pe of about 11.

One to stick on the watchlist for an entry once trading stablises.

Despite upgrading the stock's rating, the broker downgraded its earnings per share forecasts. For 2015, it reduced EPS expectations by 6pc to reflect increasing headwinds in Senior's Flexonics business - which manufactures heat exchange solutions for the energy and diesel engine markets.

Thomas Rands, of Investec, said: “We believe our new forecasts not only capture the current headwinds, for Flexonics, but also build in some contingency.”

Investec also reckons management will confirm conditions have deteriorated across its truck, automotive, power and energy markets over the past two months. Analysts do not forecast growth in operating margins in its aerospace division.

However, amid the negatives, Investec believe Senior's “programme positions, operational flexibility, good and consistent cash generation and robust balance sheet” are all attractive - and undervalue the group at its current share price

Engineering group Senior became the biggest riser on the mid-cap index after a rating upgrade.


Investec lifted the stock’s rating to “buy”, saying it believed the shares were “oversold̶1; and “undervalued”.


The stock leapt by as much as 13.3p, or 5.6pc, to 250.3p in early morning trade as the broker said it expected the FTSE 250 group’s trading to be “relatively resilient” and supported by both good cash generation and a strong balance sheet, despite negative earnings momentum

Possible carryover from GKN.Think it may be a market over reaction to the VW emissions affair. Taken from SNR website:-Many of the Group's products are developed to help customers to achieve their objectives for improved operating costs, particularly fuel efficiency in aircraft platforms and land vehicle engine applications, and to meet increasingly stringent global emission regulations.Believe also that Crumlins (may not now be part of the group?) did work for VW on exhaust and engine parts in the past.May think about buying back in here (sold up in Feb).GLDD
