20/9/2005 15:29 | Booby love, there really is no point in you hanging around here any more. Now run along, poor lad. | coogar
20/9/2005 13:31 | lol filter the ones with the most knowledge of the company thats a good idea. Will get you far in investing. | bigbobjoylove
20/9/2005 12:44 | scotinvestor You will find alot of jealousy on here, mainly from those who failed to capitalise on opportunities when the SCTN share price was below 400p. I am confident enough to back up your views even on a day like today when the share price is falling. I too am sitting on what I consider to be a very safe (if not infalible - nothing is certain in this game) capital gain, whilst at the same time enjoying a very good yield (5.6% at my purchase price). Since the market has recovered, there are very few - if any - similar opportuntities left out there and Like you I would be happy to hear some of the doubters' stock picks. p.s. if it was post 1542 you were responding to, I filtered that writer ages ago | coogar
19/9/2005 09:33 | well if i sell right now, i make 2000 pound profit. And i get dividends of about 800 pounds a year. So if thats problematic to you with the turmoil of stock market since dopey labour gov came to power, then i'd love to see your stock tips. | scotinvestor
18/9/2005 23:07 | problamatic co to say the least. | bigbobjoylove
05/9/2005 21:42 | How about Diageo launching a break-up bid for SCTN, with the intention of hiving off the brewing interests to, say, Heineken? Edit: Or maybe even a joint bid (Diageo and Heineken or Carlsberg) | coogar
30/8/2005 19:52 | I don't have anything to do with s/n now but previous dealings and knowledge tell me the same as you get your money in other companies there are loads to outstrip s/n even in the footsie, I play the aim market now risky but well paid. | wardy3
30/8/2005 19:40 | £4 would'nt tempt me.Loads of better/cheaper co's on the market with much greater growth. What should p!ss shareholders off is the extortionate wages this inept management pay themselves. All i can say is i'm glad my shares were given to me by the co! | bigbobjoylove
30/8/2005 19:12 | Bigbobjoylove.... you know the situation just as I do this company as a share are at rock bottom, it does not matter what they do the share rise ain't gonna happen, just keep dropping until they might be at a price to attract a predator but believe me its well below £4.00p, I will buy in again at anything below £4.00 and even then with caution. Also what you say about the U/K sites is true they are old worn out and need millions spent just to bring up to speed. | wardy3
30/8/2005 12:04 | you know alls should listen to people who know the company from the inside looking out.Obviously wardy3 is in a position to comment like myself. Believe me they have to spend 10s millions to sort out their ramshackle u.k sites. They've closed 2 breweries and tried to put the extra volume to the remaining sites which simply are'nt upto it. Don't believe this t/o hype,it just won't happen. Why not ask the co for a tour of one of their breweries? you'll see how dire an operation they run. Worth no more than 10x earnings this pile of carp.£3.50 -£3.75 is about all these are worth and thats generous. Still tons of debt as well, really would'nt be surprised to see these warn or put out a very weak t.statement shortly. Nowt rosy about s&n. | bigbobjoylove
26/8/2005 20:57 | Charles I have worked and studied this company for years the only good thing is the dividend you cannot live on that alone,I know the brewery sites well and their infrastuctures they are worn out they are an old play get some money in RPT take a risk in your life!. | wardy3
26/8/2005 10:26 | Also on the M&A front, Scottish & Newcastle was in focus as traders noted there was a tick up move in the CDS (credit default swap) market late yesterday. Such a move usually suggests bid speculation explained traders. There was also talk this morning S&N may make a counterbid for Belhaven - the pubs company that has recently agreed a 625 pence per share takeover offer from Greene King. | evo8
25/8/2005 19:43 | Wardy - LOL you obviously don't do any fundamental research ;-) | charles7
25/8/2005 12:45 | These shares have been the dog of the market for years now no one can seriously be buying them, the Reading brewery is well past sell buy date needs millions to improve infrastructure and the workers know it , all the hype of takeovers etc been going on for years no-one wants it they would of bought it by now, I got out at £4.80p get out now before they drop some more. | wardy3
23/8/2005 08:40 | coogar,they will have a disaster,marketh the man on the inside news. | bigbobjoylove
14/8/2005 18:22 | AO Why only sell half then? Maybe you are waiting until the day before they go xd LOL. You continue making pennies, leave the making £££s to me :) Girlie is slipping I'm afraid. Will take a disaster for these to drop to her buy price (which I remind you is 77pennies above mine). We might even be at a double-bottom within the rectangle (I don't think there is such a thing, but oh what fun this is!) | coogar
13/8/2005 22:16 | Of course, as any expert will tell you, the real reason for Yesterday's rise was AO's recent declaration that he sold half his holding. Some people just never learn... eh, Girlie? LOL | coogar
12/8/2005 16:22 | Very interesting reading the latest 'bid speculation'. I was recently mulling over in my own mind the possibility of a merger with Carlsberg (I really was!) I am still invested in a local pub company that was taken over last November (it has now been taken private). The new management has recently replaced Carlsberg with Scottish Courage in all of it's managed houses. The estate (163 pubs in total) is only small, however if these two companies are similarly fighting for the same market on a much larger scale across the UK (and I have no idea whether or not that's the case) some kind of merger begins to make sense. Then of course there is BBH, a 50-50 joint venture between Carlsberg and SCTN which they're currently battling to restructure (some minority shareholders proving to be a bit of a thorn) so they're even 'sharing growth'. Fascinating indeed. | coogar |
