Morning wee Graham. You seem extra keen not to talk about the Edinburgh presentation. Would you prefer my observations to be buried in your nonsense?

Tell us what you know about the revised date for first gold production. The hapless Gray didn't seem keen to give any forecast - having previously bogged up Q4 2018 and Q1 2019. Do you think he now feels that discretion is the better part of valour given his awful track record on forecasting?

Presumably Gray will have to bite the bullet at the AGM - and based on the Edinburgh vagueness I fear that shareholders are in for disappointment.

Btw, my previous comments about the two customers for Cononish gold should have referred specifically to Scottish gold as I assume the concentrate stuff is sold somewhere else (not that Gray is telling us where or how much for).

I've now watched the unfortunate Gray's fumbling, bumbling presentation in Edinburgh and was surprised by several things, most critically the lack of information about the cash position and future liabilities and commitments - including the previously-unannounced $16m commitment to explore the Grampian prospects over the next four years*.

But there were no questions from the audience about cash either so maybe all PIs are pure romantics.

I did think that Gray was injudicious in some of his remarks which could have been construed as negatives. Being able to mine under the strict regime of the national park may well reflect positively on Scotgold but the sub-plot is that it makes the job very slow and very expensive.

Being limited to just one blast a day when they need to dig through 1000 metres (Gray said kilometres) makes it a very slow road. It wasn't surprising that Scotgold no longer talk about producing gold in Q1. All we heard was the vague timeline of "months away from production".

And looking at the empty building site, the new 80 x 30 process plant building and ancillary works could easily take another 6 months to build and populate, given the laborious ecological work that goes with it. I think it's possible that the mine will be a year late and that no gold will be produced until late 2020 or early 2021.

Since Gray revealed that the only customers for the gold are still the two Scottish jewellers and that expanding sales is a "long-term" aim, that seems to support the notion that the mine won't be producing much gold for the foreseeable future.

Who can tell me more about ionic leaching? It seems to excite Gray but it has been around for a decade or so and I've struggled to find instances of it actually finding commercial gold anywhere in the world - whereas I found several reports of it not delivering. So any case histories resulting in commercial gold operations will be welcome.

And still no photos of any nuggets - despite this audience of panhandlers gagging for them.

*My conspiracy theory is that the cost of bringing Cononish into profitable operation is much higher than previously forecast and that the extra cash needed will be raised ostensibly to meet this huge $16m exploration commitment - which is a hugely disproportionate financial commitment for a business of Scotgold's size and resources.

hyper - as I explained at the time, banning you over your disruptive posting on the HUR board would affect all my moderated boards including SGZ. (edit: it isn't possible to ban/unban selectively). Should you undertake not to disrupt the HUR board, I will reconsider. Unfortunately, advfn does not allow premium (blue) members to be moderated, (except on "Guild" threads which would have limited appeal amongst all members).

Your reaction to my postings on HUR is way over the top! I can maybe understand you banning me on HUR but why SGZ?

I have never said anything negative against SGZ!

Although I would suggest SGZ having a small hydro scheme to help the mine save some money on the energy front. I believe businesses can get 50% grants from Scottish Exec towards capital cost of such projects.

Could then be ethical and green Gold all in one!

Meanwhile a small sell - possibly of option shares - sends the share price into the red. What happens to the share price when this escalates?

Of course, Scotgold need the options cash so they will presumably do their best to keep the share price at an attractive enough level until the exercise window closes. Then we'll see whether 80p was the spike I think it is.

But what do they do if they desperately need to raise more cash before the window closes? Knowing the hapless Gray as I do, they will try to defer any planned fundraise until after the options cash is in the bank. Imho, of course. But you heard it here first.

ROFL...but let's not lose sight of the fact that Scotgold have just sprung a nasty $16m exploration expenditure commitment surprise on shareholders - which a market-compliant CEO would have announced last December when he signed up to it.

With this kind of overhead weighing Cononish down for the next 4.1 years, your talk of the mine throwing off cash to fund exploration drilling is far-fetched. If you're lucky the mine might start generating cash in 2025.

It has a big enough burden of debt already, without this huge new burden.

This post contains numerous factual errors, such as the additional options referred to had already expired some 6 months earlier and that there was no cash received as this, as the name implies, is a CLN (Convertible Loan Note), ie the loan principal which the Company received in 2014 was being converted into equity rather than repaid.
