Not quite the 100k of buys yet, but very close now.

battlebus2, It has been the 2nd busiest day of this thread according to the flag counter stats, the busiest being Interims day last year.

Finncap not to be trusted, owned a cos. shares last year, they had not got a clue what was going on before it went belly-up!

10-11-2014 a "CORP" note from their broker FinnCap has 3p of eps for 2015 and 3.5p for 2016. From this the shares should be more like min 25p, imo.

No wonder it's been bought this last few days!

Looking at Level 2 I see there are 5 brokers and none are showing more than 3k of shrs, either side of the bid/ask. In practice you can get an online quote at the ask, of 5000 shrs, but not more.

Good wishes, all

I also saw this on my recent looking into the Company, don't expect anything shattering prior to Interims but would be good to hear his view of the meet in November. Reading other reports he seems to give a good unbiased view,

"1Spatial is hosting an analyst meeting on that day at 9.30 and I hope to be able to catch up with the CEO Marcus Hanke, who I interviewed earlier this year.

Two other irons in the fire, where visits now look like coming off, are SDI and SAGENTIA, which I am hoping to visit in November and January."

As you say troutisout, the forthcoming opportunity to compare 2014 achievements against the 2013 interim figures has the potential reawaken interest in SDI .
As regards the spread, whilst it is appalling, the MMs' are bidding over 13 pence for stock,so it is not quite as bad as it looks.

My take on it is that last year there was an enthusiastic following here and the HB had got some weird and high (EPS number)forecasts, this lead to a bit of disappointment at the Interims when these were missed, although the Company had said they expected to do better in the 2nd half, then when it became apparent with the trading statement they had missed that expectation again the share price dropped again and has been in the doldrums since (Much of AIM) has these past few months.

Reading this and other threads it would seem a lot of PIs are now out and the share unloved. However the share price is low, developments have ben made with product lines and the vibes are indeed positive. However vibes aren't sales and that is ultimately what will move this, in the meantime the Interims are due next month and they will be benchmarked on last year's, if they can show improvement and have a positive outlook statement alongside then these should re-rate a bit.

The spread stinks as does the illiquidity but looking at the longterm chart the 10p area looked like a bottom and the recent move up off 11p signalled a possible start to a move up again.

DYOR,

Trout.

Results in a few weeks, as you say the prospects look more upbeat than for a while. Opus seems a good fit and possible further acquisitions to come.
Any reason in particular for the fall other than the trading update which had some negatives?

Hello battlebus.
I was hoping to refrain from posting here and now I have someone to talk with !
SDI is at a very interesting stage of its development.
The second half, although concealed by first half losses, demonstrated a strong move into profitability.
The outlook statement envisaged "success"in the current year.something not expressed in statements from earlier years.
SDI's new products are hugely relevant and are being well reviewed and are sold across the globe.
North America could be massive.
To say SDI shares were priced above 20 pence for most of the past two years(when it was encountering problems), then it is just typical of AIM, that just as the company seems about to enter a period of strong profits growth, the share price languishes right at the bottom of its trading range.
Here in lies the opportunity(and a significant one) imo.

Amazingly, imo, the SDI share price has today remained implacably marooned on an 11-12 pence quote. There are so many positives abounding that an upward re rating is surely imminent.

One last snippet before I take a short rest from posting here.

Don Whitley Scientific Limited develops, manufactures and sells equipment and associated products for microbiology and cell culture applications worldwide and is THE LEADING INTERNATIONAL SUPPLIER TO THE MICROBIOLOGY AND TISSUE CULTURE INDUSTRIES.

They issued the following press release yesterday.

New Software for ProtoCOL 3

November 12th, 2014 by Michelle Kitsell

"Don Whitley Scientific is pleased to introduce a revolutionary new software module for the ProtoCOL 3 automated colony counter. The addition of this unique software, makes ProtoCOL 3 the world’s first commercial automatic microbial identification and counter of colonies cultured on CHROMagar plates and means that with minimal training, microbiologists can use the system to rapidly identify and enumerate all key clinical, water and food-borne pathogens.

The new ProtoCOL 3 software module was developed by Synbiosis, world-leading manufacturer of automated microbiological systems, and major media manufacturer CHROMagar. This module ensures that the ProtoCOL 3 system can accurately identify any bacteria or yeast cultured on a CHROMagar plate in less than a minute, saving microbiologists hours of visually inspecting colonies, and manually recording results.

The ProtoCOL 3 system performs these ground-breaking tasks by utilising unique, patented red, blue and green lighting to capture a life-like colour image of the colonies on the plates. The new software module analyses the image and is so sophisticated that it can distinguish between rose pink and dusty pink, as well as turquoise from steel blue. This allows precise identification of common pathogens, including Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, E.coli, Group B Streptococci, Listeria spp., Vibrio spp and Pseudomonas spp. The system also simultaneously enumerates the different coloured colonies of each species, providing objective, consistent data and reducing operator errors, to generate accurate results which can be stored as images and Excel spreadsheets.

Kate George, Applications Specialist at Synbiosis explained: “When manually processing large numbers of plates, microbiologists find identifying and counting microbes time-consuming, repetitive tasks and have often requested a system that can automate these. Accurately identifying microbial pathogens, as well as enumerating so many types of colonies on different agars is difficult. However, we have worked extensively for several years with CHROMagar and are delighted with the resulting powerful analytical software because it makes the ProtoCOL 3 the only commercial system that can perform this seemingly impossible rapid microbial identification task.”

Kate added: “Clinical microbiologists, as well as food, beverage and water quality control scientists looking to obtain precise microbial identification results and increase their colony counting throughput can now enjoy these benefits by installing a ProtoCOL 3 with its revolutionary rapid identification software in their laboratories.”

I am looking forward to reading the Interim Results for Scientific D I.
Hopefully they will promote themselves a little more forcefully.

As prefaced in the SDI final results, our North American distributor Ultra Clean is indeed actively promoting ProReveal across that Continent.
Additionally,I see that a further respected US company has been enlisted to access medical sales opportunities.Located in Greensboro,Sterilelink Inc sells, services and provides installation of sterilization and decontamination equipment for hospitals, surgery centres and laboratories in the USA.
Sterilelink have commenced highlighting/selling the "Ultra Clean Systems" ProReveal.

Imo it is an inspired strategy to market ProReveal as a US/International product rather than as a UK invention as it is notoriously difficult otherwise to make any impact on their insular proclivities.

SDI remains a raging buy imo at today's 12 pence.

I understand that Synoptics ProReveal is now being trialed alongside a competitor technology from Biotak.

" In conjunction with the HPA, BIOtAK conducted trials of its first product WASHtAK – a revolutionary new quantifiable wash indicator for hospital washer disinfectors. The main aim of the trials was to establish whether this lab researched and developed technology had been engineered sufficiently to work out in the “real world”. Amongst other things the trials showed that WASHtAK was able to differentiate the hospitals’ wash processes into three distinct groups, whereas conventional tests couldn’t tell any difference. All of the hospitals’ washers conformed to the appropriate standards, so this goes to show that with this new, much more sensitive technology, we perhaps need to go back and look at what we ask of our hospital washer disinfectors. The paper presented by Dr Sutton has been published in the Journal of Hospital Infection."

As far as I can ascertain,ProReveal and WASHtAK are currently the only two systems "in the frame".

Testing continues, which I believe could be taking place in Cardiff hospitals.

There has been a real "BUZZ" throughout all SDI's divisions over recent months, with a range of new cutting edge technologies being introduced.
ProReveal meanwhile on Thursday 25th September, 2014 was named amongst the top twenty at the prestigious Cambridge News Top Innovations Award recognising its breakthrough test for detecting residual proteins on surgical instruments and was nominated as technology to watch..

"Synoptics Health’s ProReveal Protein Detection Test beat off stiff competition from technologies in the IT, healthcare, telecoms and life sciences sectors to be listed as one of twenty to watch."

"Cambridge in the UK has always been a hotbed of success with discovering, funding and marketing new innovations, including two blockbuster drugs and components that are used in mobile ‘phones globally coming from the region. Since Synoptics’ Health’s ProReveal Test is the only commercial test on the market which complies with new recommendations for preventing accidental vCJD infections post-surgery and is a breakthrough technology, it too could enjoy world-wide success."

Subsequently,on Monday 20th October 2014,Syngene, a world-leading manufacturer of sensitive image analysis solutions, was delighted to introduce the vibrant new T:Genius imaging system, which unlike any other imager on the market, allows high performance, walk-away imaging of gels on a smartphone or tablet.

"What makes the new T:Genius outperform other commercial imagers is the amazing ability to quickly and easily access stunning quality images anywhere from a tablet, computer or smartphone. Using the T:Genius’ clever ‘StatusLink’ feature researchers can stay updated and even share image results with colleagues in other labs, no matter whether they are down the hall or in another country. This is a great time saver when, for instance, scientists are developing a gel and want to see how it’s doing while having lunch or busying themselves with something else in the lab.

The new T:Genius is both stylish and practical, comes in a choice of exciting colours (hot chilli red, cool ice blue and bright crystal silver) and features a fantastic, sensitive camera which will give high res images of even the biggest gels, as well as tricky applications such as stain-free protein gel imaging. With the powerful GeneSys image capture software, running the system is child’s play. Researchers can set up their imaging protocols, click, walk away and see accurate DNA or protein results later in the lab or on their tablet or ‘phone.

Scientists wanting to find out more about the stunning new T:Genius, can schedule a live demo or click this link for more details:

“Many scientists have only dreamed of having an imager like the T:Genius” said Laura Sullivan, Syngene’s Divisional Manager, “but because we always like to push the boundaries of imaging performance, we’ve made it a reality. Our new T:Genius truly offers researchers a high performance, time-saving image analysis platform and we can’t wait to show the system off at all the major lab shows.”

Most recently on Wednesday 29th October 2014 Synbiosis launched the world's first automated colony identification system for use with CHROMagar™.

"Synbiosis, a world-leading manufacturer of automated microbiological systems, is pleased to introduce a revolutionary new software module for the ProtoCOL 3 automated colony counter. With SDI resonating with positivity,I believe that the Interims could sound a very bullish note indeed in its outlook statement whilst at the same time announcing a strong move into profitability.

On a most positive note,I read that Public Health England have just recommended ProReveal for evavaluation/trials in an NHS clinical setting having completed basic research and development and decreed that this SDI product may have potential value.

Additionally,The RRP notes that whilst further validation is required, ProReveal "may present as a useful tool for optimising cleaning protocols",as specified within the NHS CFPP-01-01 consultation document on protein contamination testing.

No doubt this particularly significant and meritorious step forward towards the full commercialisation of ProReveal will be highlighted in the interim report.

"Synoptics ProReveal is a highly sensitive fluorescence-based protein detection test for checking the presence of residual protein on surgical instruments after going through a washer disinfector process. This cost-effective test (conforms to BS EN ISO 15883-1) delivers objective, visual and measurable results, removing any doubt as to whether a decontaminated instrument is safe for reuse. This is a significant quality enhancement from current testing available and there is no other affordable fluorescence-based test designed for this application that is commercially available."(Peskett Solutions)

Thanks Nigel for your observation on the AGM content.
Bakunin. As you know from STL,I am not one for technical intricacies.Surely though any such procedural weakness would have been remedied by SDI.
ProReveal is the corner stone underpinning the "buy" recommendation from Nick2008,so I would not be too dismissive of a product that has the potential at least to generate increasingly substantial unit sales.

Whilst initial sales have been slower than anticipated,SDI state in the latest results that,

"To date, 26 demonstration units have been sold globally. In the UK, Synoptics Health's UK distributor has installed a further two ProReveal systems during the period, one in Serchem, a major washroom detergent manufacturer, and a second to an ultrasonic bath decontamination supplier. Both suppliers are using the ProReveal as a validation tool for their decontamination products and processes and this is a market sector, which although smaller than the hospital washroom market, is embracing this new technology.

To capitalise on this untapped sector of decontamination product suppliers, Synoptics Health is actively marketing ProReveal to these manufacturers and the system is currently being trialled by a major international washer manufacturer for inclusion in every washer suite they install. Additionally, Synoptics Health has redesigned the ProReveal viewer software to include an analytics module and is also introducing a test diagnostic, called the ProReveal Tag. The software will provide information on the performance of different operatives, tray positions in washers, as well as different washers and reagents used in the decontamination process. The tag which is a stainless steel slide coated with a known amount of protein, will indicate how effectively the decontamination process is performing. Synoptics Health believes developing ProReveal to appeal to this sector will lead to further sales growth in the coming year and could encourage AEDs (Authorising Engineers Decontamination) in hospital research departments (a large untapped market) to review the technology too.

Synoptics Health continues to have a first mover advantage with ProReveal in the healthcare market sector internationally. To exploit this, Synoptics Health has appointed a network of six new distributors throughout Europe in the period. Since there has been interest in the product in North America, where there have been recent issues in 2013 with vCJD contamination via surgical instruments, Synoptics Health in 2014 partnered with a US distributor. The distributor has extensive experience of surgical instrument decontamination in US SSDs and a network of customers there that are keen to see the technology. Ultra Clean is actively promoting ProReveal at major trade shows and the system will be presented in a speaker session by an infection control expert at the Canadian Association of Medical Device Reprocessing (CAMDR) in October 2014.

The re-engineering of ProReveal to position the test as a validation diagnostic in combination with a stronger US and European presence will lead to better sector penetration and further sales of ProReveal in 2014 and into 2015."

Hopefully the Interim figures, due in December, will demonstrate whether or not the refreshed Scientific product range is at last gaining some traction .

The Directors have indicated that it will.
