20/12/2013 08:18 | I almost bought a few a while ago and glad I waited. Was put off by the massive forecast jump for next year, for which there seemed little tangible evidence. Plus the apparent second half weighting, but with no real pattern to it, to underpin. Also got Deltex already and one 'slow' (and that's an understatement) burner in medical is enough for me. If it gets really cheap, I might have a few as it should surely be possible to get a few hundred thousand profit out of that turnover. But I didn't like this ambiguity: "should result in an improvement in margins and profitability which should be reflected in the second half of this financial year." Does that mean the overall results for the year will be better than last, or that the second half will just be better than the first. If its just the latter, its a bit of a disaster and they'll be nowhere near the 1p earnings from last year. | yump

21/11/2013 07:57 | My understanding is the NHS recommendations are framed that X should happen , in this case equipment should be cleaned to give a certain result , and its up to others then to buy the product that does X. Its not about choosing one company over another. Hopefully they then use Pro-Reveal. | the oak tree
21/11/2013 00:38 | Nick, thanks for those. The CFPP-01-01 recommendation was published last March. The paper consists of five parts. They do not mention Pro-Reveal by name, but part A talks about the use of Sypro Ruby which "is capable of revealing proteins in subnanogram quantities per mm2", so I thought at first that Sypro Ruby must be the lab name for ProReveal, but a Google quickly shows that is not so. I must ask sometime for the relationship between the two (if any). Nigel Martin | gnnmartin
18/11/2013 14:17 | And this ProReveal test detects proteins on surgical instruments - 13 Nov 2013 "The patented, ultra-sensitive ProReveal test combines a test kit and viewer with an easy-to-use touch screen and software. In just two simple spray and see steps, users can detect nanogram levels of protein contamination, no matter where it is located on a surgical instrument, in less than 5 minutes. The product aligns with the protein contamination testing recommendations in the UK's new NHS CFPP-01-01 consultation document. " DYOR Nick | nick2008
18/11/2013 14:15 | Just noticed that no one has posted on here - very quiet indeed...so thought I should post something :) Quick googled around - found that SDI had a stand at Medica 2013 düsseldorf 20-23 november 2013 Synoptics Health Hall 1 Stand F11 Beacon House, Nuffield Road, Cambridge, CB4 1TF Tel: +44 (0)1223 727114 Fax: +44 (0)1223 727101 Email: sales@synopticshealt Web: www.synopticshealth. Synoptics Health will be featuring the new ProReveal Fluorescence Detection Test. ProReveal is a patented fluorescence based, highly sensitive protein detection test for checking the presence of residual protein on surgical instruments after washing. The test is both visual and quantitative and removes any doubt as to whether a cleaned instrument is fit for reprocessing. ProReveal offers a fast, effective and highly sensitive test for protein detection as an alternative to the 'swabbing techniques' used in many SSDs. With the ProReveal test the whole instrument is checked for protein not just a small 'swabbed' area. | nick2008

05/10/2013 09:58 | Another new software launched - This company is the one be watched now....... NEW SynStats Software for Antibiotic and Vaccine Developers Kate George of SDI's Synbiosis Division explained: "Microbiologists producing data to measure antibiotic effectiveness or vaccine potency often have large numbers of Excel spreadsheets containing data to transfer and analyse. This can be a time consuming and potentially risk prone activity because the figures do not always transfer across directly into statistical analysis packages and can require additional manual manipulation. What they need is analysis software which is compliant with US and European regulations that they can input raw zone measurement or colony count numbers into and easily obtain vaccine or antibiotic efficacy results out from, without them having to become statistics experts." Kate added: "Our ProtoCOL 3 design team has responded to this need with extensive development work. We believe that the resulting powerful software will significantly de-risk the data transfer, as well as increase throughput of antibiotic and vaccine testing in any pharma or biotech which chooses to integrate the SynStats analysis software with their ProtoCOL 3 automated technology." | nick2008
