I guess Diku is more of a technical trader and has less regard to fundamentals based on previous posts given that he also predicted the share price would continue falling to test 33p but that has not materialised. Whilst I do think technicals have a part to play and should be considered, in shares like saga I think it has less relevance and fundamentals/market sentiment have much greater relevance in determining share price movements. Just my opinion. Good luck shorts and longs!

EJ...I am sure you added a lot of investment intelligence buying around 50p recently when I predicted it was failing 50p and going to 40p...or is it you don't like differing opinions...no need to review in 2021...

Diku, If there were lots of unfilled cabins saga would presumably leave the highest available discount of 30% right up until the last minute. Take a look at the cruises on saga sapphire (the older ship). But since they have been selling well, they gradually reduce discount available as load factor increases so what you are suggesting is in a way already being done anyway

Let me ask you a question from a different angle...for what ever reason what if there were 20 - 30 or more unfilled cabins?...would they still not offer further discounts to fill the cabins or would they rather protect those who have already paid higher prices?...

No that is your assumption and comparing with Ryanair or Poundland...of course Saga wants customers to book early and not wait till last minute...and over 50's generally tend to plan such events well in advance...we are talking of just 1 or 2 unfilled cabins that could be further discounted just few days before departure...and not 10 or 20's...if they manage to fill it by chance good for Saga...think we have to agree to disagree...

No think you missing my point...and Saga can play it accordingly as mentioned previously...

Don’t think your getting the point diku. The pricing strategy you are suggesting is very short sighted. Encourage clients to book early and offer them the best discount is the correct/safest strategy imo. Why give people an incentive to wait until the last minute in the hope they get a better deal - that would be a catastrophic strategy for saga to follow imo

If you already have discounts from 0% to 30% then the question about cheapening the brand does not arise..or is it just an advertising ploy?.. so if you have just one 1 or 2 unfilled cabins and if they slash another 5 or 10% just to fill it what harm does it do...as mentioned before Saga can play it accordingly...if you take care of pennies the pounds will take care by itself...could pay for a staff part salary or maintenance or other...

blondeamon...why you are assuming 30%...why not 20%, 15% or 10% discount...see if they are any takers rather than no money...obviously it would not suit everybody...only for somebody who is quick enough for a gateaway at a short notice...comparing Poundland against luxury cruise is immaterial...

Surely if you have one or two cabins unfilled they could give some % discount...better to have some money coming in then no money...play it accordingly to the situation...it would lead to self promoting..

Does the price get very cheap if you buy it at the last minute...I mean day before...
