I'm not sure I should have to. It's only a Bulletin Board, not a pub quiz. If you've got something to say, why not say it?!

So under the radar I had to scout about for whatever you're talking about!

Is it this

Or this

This is massive news and under the radar. While we have all been worrying how AI is going to decimate RWS's business, under the radar they have released this product. Using their expertise with a helping hand from AI and a massive customer base to sell into what I imagine will be a recurring revenue they have just destroyed all the doubters. They can adapt to the market place at lighting speed. I love this company and I love the management. See you at 400.

Jeffian I am not advocating for directors to support the share price through share purchases. Directors should buy stocks for their personal financial benefit. If they see an opportunity to achieve significant capital appreciation by buying shares in a company they know well, they should take it.

The purchase of £10,000 worth of shares won't significantly improve their financial situation. What is the point of buying such a small amount? It doesn't benefit them meaningfully. Therefore, I consider it nonsensical. If you have confidence that the company has bright prospects, buy and buy big; otherwise, don't take a punt—just trade other shares that you don't have to disclose if you are speculating in the stock market.

If a director thinks that buying shares sends a signal to individual or institutional investors, they are mistaken.

Buying large amounts of shares to support the share price as an act of desperation is also nonsensical. That will not save the share price in the long run (and often not even in the short term) and may lead to financial self-harm. However, some directors and CEOs often do this

There's a misunderstanding among small PI's about Directors' share purchases. The executive Directors are there to run the company, and they get paid for it, sometimes with share awards as a bonus. Non-execs may buy shares if they like what they see when they get on board. Either way, it is not their job to try to support the share price, though plenty seem willing to try to send a 'signal' by buying a nominal amount. I would have said that this is just such a case. I tend to take no notice of Directors' share purchases at all; it's either an act of desperation or a half-hearted attempt to show they have 'skin in the game'.

Thanks Jeff. I am surprised that she bothered to buy £10K worth of stock. Maybe she doesn't get paid enough to save money to invest, or maybe her lifestyle is unnecessarily lavish.

Is there an error in the last RNS?

Julie Southern, Chairman, has acquired 5,076 ordinary shares
Price(s) 197.8p Volume(s)2,529

How many shares did Julie buy then, 5076 or 2592?

Pennon buyback of £400m @ around £12-£14 worked well. Their share price is now £6.12 ish.
Had they waited a while the buyback would have cost about £195m at say £12.50

I rest my briefs.

1. Employees will be mandated to lower their thermostat by a couple of degrees
2. India is the next place where our jobs will go to. My company (software) has a big fraction of their employees in India now.

Agreed. ESG just seems to be another excuse to fill annual reports with nonsense.

1 A company like RWS ought to have a low carbon footprint, with people based in offices or working from home.

2 For the companies with very high carbon footprints, we've made European energy so expensive that much of their activities have moved to China, where they are powered by coal.

From the DT this has a familiar ring
“ Apple briefly became the most valuable company in the world again last week but this is no surprise. The stock market is rewarding everyone who says that they have added some AI magic to their business – and punishing anyone who hasn’t.”

This effect seems to have passed RWS by

Today Adobe seems to be doing well thanks to the implementation of AI. AI is not the beast to fear if a company can take advantage of it. I hope RWS is one of those

IC today says SELL FWIW. They are cautious about long term prospects particularly relating to AI. To be fair their last suggestion was SELL in November, at 217p and they were right.
